He could be producing more, but I have no issue whatsoever with his overall effort. He's skating in a blue/white/red quagmire.

If you want to single out guys who are really playing poorly, look no further than VL and AMac, both of whom are really poopting the bed out there almost every shift.

- Tomahawk

Amac had a bad game last night.

VL seemed unable to control the puck at all last night.

I also don't expect much our of those guys.

I'm worried about Girouxs overall effort. It only comes for limited amounts of time. I really think he's injured. Which would explain why he appears to be laboring to me.

The conversation was about Giroux. He's been find on the defensive end of the puck. Whether that's because the Rangers focus so much on him they don't get more chances or not, I don't know. Hell, I'm not even really concerned.

I see a player who is struggling right now.

Whatever.

Don't care. Really only jumped on because of how rude you sounded while "mentioning" people who said something bad about Giroux' play.

You can sugar coat it all you want. Giroux is expected to play better. If this performance is good enough for you, so be it. I expect more from him.

I'm only going to talk about how awesome Mason is until game 5. Anything less would be unfair to him. He was amazing.

Put a sock in it man, you have repeated yourself at least 30 times in this post. Giroux manned up in the regular season to get these guys to the playoffs, it is time for everyone else to step up and make a difference. We knew he was going to be checked very tightly and rightfully so as he is our best player. Crosby and Malkin havent scored yet either but it doesn't mean they have been playing bad.

I see a player who is getting all the focus and the tightest amount of checking by the Rangers.

I don't see the effort of Giroux as being a problem. I also wouldn't be surprised if he is hurt in someway.

I am a bit surprised that no one on the team has done anything about the multiple hits the Rangers have thrown at him.

You guys are right. I'm sorry. Giroux has played awesome. He is only struggling because the Rangers are able to shut him down so easily.

I was surprised when Mason got crosschecked a dozen times and no one did anything. It's not like the refs do them any favors, so I get that.

I live in a world of hyperbole. He hasn't played up to expectations. How about that?

I think Hartnell has been terrible on that line. He kills chances when he blindly throws the puck to the middle and turns the puck over.

Yep. Gill has the experience and the size and more closely matches what he is replacing in the line up (including slow).

Ok I'm gonna settle this. Just for you. Please "listen" carefully.

Giroux has not played poorly. He's been hustling all over the ice, he's been the best drawman in the series for either team (I think), and he's played well away from the puck. He has not played poorly.

That being said, he has not played exceptionally, which can be seen as a problem, because he is an exceptional player. The Rangers are blanketing him to the point where he is outnumbered 2-1 when the puck just barely touches his stick. They're containing him, in my opinion, better than he's ever been contained before since he's been in the NHL.

Neither side of the hyperbole can be condoned here. You're being bullheaded and saying that he's playing poorly because he isn't generating offense to the tune of 4 chances a night. Fine. We all know that his offensive game- the biggest strength of his to the team- is lacking. What some people don't or refuse to realize is that this doesn't mean he is useless out there. Another thing some people don't or fail to realize is the Rangers are playing him perfectly. You have to see that and take that into account.

So, this is a whole roundabout way of saying "He needs to be better offensively, but he's performing well in other areas and there is certainly a huge reason he isn't putting up offense, and that's the Rangers. Not because he's a "fraud"."

Crosby hasn't scored in the playoffs in the last 10 games I think? Malkin too, if memory serves me right. Just want some people to chew on that.

Giroux also took a kidney punch in game 1. Can't feel nice.

I have full confidence that once the Flyers beat this team and advance to the next round, G will be in full offensive form because he doesn't have to deal with the checking of the Rangers. What they're doing is pretty crazy out there.

Or, the coaching staff could attempt to get him and his line away from Girardi/McDonagh which they have not done all series long.

Berube has done some things well. This series has not been kind to him at all. He's a rookie coach, coaching like a rookie coach.

Still, we're tied at 2 games a piece. Rangers should feel pretty demoralized after how they've played through 4 games. They've outplayed us in every game, except one.

We can take this series if we pull our collective heads out of our asses and play the game that got us here. Enough of the pretty poop.

Im happy they are tied at 2-2.

Against a faster team, and playing your back-up in the first 3 games. They have managed to hold it together. If we also remember back to that latest Stanley cup final run, they were sporadic also. Rangers are no push-over. Hopefully they can take this one, game 5 would be huge.

This sounds crazy... but if Columbus beats the Pens we're going to struggle in the next round as well.

If Montreal wins their division, we have a shot at making it to the cup. If we beat the Rangers.

Gill will do better than people think. Obviously he doesn't have a lot of mobility, but if there's one thing he IS good at it's making quick decisions with the puck.

He's the polar opposite of Grossmann, who often would hold on to the puck until he was swarmed upon by the Rangers. As soon as Gill gets the puck it will be moved, either to another Flyer or just cleared to center ice.

This will be a good thing for the Flyers.

Agreed

Having a backup for Grossmann and Schenn come playoff time is the reason they signed Gill in the first place
