Why don't you just buy a Rangers jersey for frank's sake.

Wouldn't match all my Giroux shirts.

Besides, you guys are the ones bowing down at the feet of the Rangers and praising them for shutting down Giroux.

Not me.

I'd rather him not guarantee anything. We were lucky to walk away with a win yesterday.
- Flyersgod

I missed it, where was the luck aspect? Was it the shut-down goal-tending from our starter? Timely scoring? Solid defensive play?

I understand not wanting to look like the happy-go-lucky fan that just praises everything the team does, but you're looking ridiculous with this Giroux-bashing. And now the Flyers were "lucky" to win? I'd love to see what differentiates a lucky win vs. an earned win.

Mason stole that game. Whether or not you want to accept that, that's up to you.

I'm glad they won. But lets not pretend like they deserved to.

No specifics, other than out for game 5. Berube is said to not have made a decision between Gus or Gill yet.

In summation:

Mason stole game yesterday. Therefore, Flyers sucked.

But if/when Lundqvist steals game, Flyers sucked because they didn't find a way to work through it. And Giroux will have sucked extra.

Now, if the Flyers win and play well, but Giroux doesn't score, then he still sucks. Everybody else? They'll be judged according to whatever scale feels right.

Because "eye test." With the default of "Flyers sucked."

Ok I'm gonna settle this. Just for you. Please "listen" carefully.

Giroux has not played poorly. He's been hustling all over the ice, he's been the best drawman in the series for either team (I think), and he's played well away from the puck. He has not played poorly.

That being said, he has not played exceptionally, which can be seen as a problem, because he is an exceptional player. The Rangers are blanketing him to the point where he is outnumbered 2-1 when the puck just barely touches his stick. They're containing him, in my opinion, better than he's ever been contained before since he's been in the NHL.

Neither side of the hyperbole can be condoned here. You're being bullheaded and saying that he's playing poorly because he isn't generating offense to the tune of 4 chances a night. Fine. We all know that his offensive game- the biggest strength of his to the team- is lacking. What some people don't or refuse to realize is that this doesn't mean he is useless out there. Another thing some people don't or fail to realize is the Rangers are playing him perfectly. You have to see that and take that into account.

So, this is a whole roundabout way of saying "He needs to be better offensively, but he's performing well in other areas and there is certainly a huge reason he isn't putting up offense, and that's the Rangers. Not because he's a "fraud"."

Crosby hasn't scored in the playoffs in the last 10 games I think? Malkin too, if memory serves me right. Just want some people to chew on that.

Giroux also took a kidney punch in game 1. Can't feel nice.

I have full confidence that once the Flyers beat this team and advance to the next round, G will be in full offensive form because he doesn't have to deal with the checking of the Rangers. What they're doing is pretty crazy out there.

Man..Hockey is a weird sport..You have a goalie who clearly isn't part of a team and also some how managed to score 2 goals and help them win from not being part of the team.

Games like last night are games that turn a playoff series around. What kind of games?

Ones we never get.

When a goalie stands on his head and robs the other team of a win.

Hank hasn't stolen a game. Mason did.

The Flyers didn't play better than the Rangers last night, but they won. My point is, if you think last nights effort is going to win them this series, you're wrong. If they think that, they're wrong.

Mason won that game. End of story.

I don't know how giroux was invisible. He clearly drew the penalty that led to the game winning goal last night. Next best thing to scoring in my opinion.

It really was awesome. Hopefully the Flyers see the effort Mason put out in game 4 and replicates it in game 5.

They've been bad through 4 games. Very bad. You don't normally win a game when you give 42 odd man rushes in the first period.

In game 3 lundqvist stole the game. The flyers outplayed the rangers for a majority of the game and got out goalied...

What you say has validity. I don't own 3 of his jerseys because I think he's a fraud. He's better than he has shown after 4 games. That's my point.

They've been outplayed by a WIDE margin after 4 games. This could have been a sweep by the Rangers it's been that bad. For once, goaltending has played pretty well, and amazing in game 4.

Using this logic, it's impossible for a goalie to steal a game. If he can't score, he can't steal it, no?

What difference will that make to you?

You already said you don't give credit to the other team. So by definition, Lundqvist can't steal a game -- the Flyers are at fault for not winning it. The Rangers can't do anything better than the Flyers can. If they Flyers lose -- and even if they win, since Mason stealing a game isn't good enough -- the Flyers would be at fault for not doing whatever the hell it is they didn't do.

That is because 1 player can't steal a game. The goalie often is the best player on a team on a given night and keeps the team in it until they score goals.

You need a goalie to make saves and you need a team to score goals.
Both of those things happened last night.

Whatever.

Don't care. Really only jumped on because of how rude you sounded while "mentioning" people who said something bad about Giroux' play.

You can sugar coat it all you want. Giroux is expected to play better. If this performance is good enough for you, so be it. I expect more from him.

I'm only going to talk about how awesome Mason is until game 5. Anything less would be unfair to him. He was amazing.

I can't believe you guys are really saying Giroux hasn't been playing poor.
- Flyersgod

He could be producing more, but I have no issue whatsoever with his overall effort. He's skating in a blue/white/red quagmire.

If you want to single out guys who are really playing poorly, look no further than VL and AMac, both of whom are really poopting the bed out there almost every shift.

The team of which the goalie position is 1/3 of the lineup won the game last night and Mason was their best player.

If that is stealing a game to you, so be it. I could care less as long as the Flyers win.

Which of course being on this specific forum it is not always easy to tell if they do.

And it is perfectly ok for them to trip slash hold cross check and generally interfere with him as much as they want.
