Hunter was defense first, Oates let Ovie roam, Trotz would be a long term defense first guy, either Ovie back checks, or he joins the ex coach & GM.

It's not unfair to ask the guy to backcheck with a little more energy and dedication -- I don't think he has to be a Selke candidate, but yeah, it's fair, with the way the game is played now, that he at least be consistent with the effort.

I actually don't really care about stats. All you need to see about how a player is playing is seen with your eyes during the game.

We all see Giroux laboring out there. We all see him struggling to deal with the tight checking. He's played below our expectations, far below.

If he was getting a ton of chances and not scoring I wouldn't be concerned. He'd eventually break through it. Instead, he's getting almost no chances.

I think VL has had more chances actually. VL couldn't even handle the puck last night on multiple occasions. Was tough to watch him.

Giroux is getting hammered on every shift, on that note, it's hard to tell what is, and isn't a penalty anymore.

Elias sacrificed goals to play in the Devils tight system, so time will tell, but the GM is gone as well.
The new guy may view him expendable, who knows?

I don't give credit to opponents. Not a way I roll. The Rangers have shut down all of our players, but they have a specific game plan for Giroux. Up to Giroux and the coaching staff to find a way through it. Change some things up. If the one timer on the PP from the top of the circle is being sniffed out from Game 1, you should probably assume it's going to be sniffed out in game 4.

It's a game of adjustments in the playoffs. I don't care that he hasn't scored. I care that he has been a complete non-factor.

I think he's injured and that's why he's having a tough series.

- Flyersgod

So you say he's been awful flat out sucked inexcusable, but you also think he's injured and that's why?

Is he hurt or does he suck? Does not compute.

It really is hard to believe this series is tied 2-2 with the overall way the flyers are playing. The rangers are going to come with everything tomorrow and the flyers better be prepared.

We finally have a goalie that can steal a game. What a difference it makes. Emery played well in his place, but it's clear Mason is big a upgrade in mobility and game changing saves. I've been waiting a long for the Flyers to finally have a young goaltender like Mason.

I hope reader's goal last night gets him going offensively. He's a guy that can score in bunches and we need someone to do it.

Also, I'm really starting to love when G makes his lead pipe guarantees.

LETS GO FLYERS!!

- funmaster18

the rangers should be nervous. the flyers haven't played that well and it's 2-2. the pressure is on them, and now they know they have a brick (frank)ing wall at the other end. king, my ass.

He basically saying, not matter what, Giroux needs to produce. Nothing else matters except Giroux's production.

Lundqvist has not looked great. The Rangers have done a good job clearing rebounds, but there are more rebounds than normal

I felt after game 2 they were going to win the series. I didn't think it would be easy, but just had a feeling. If the flyers start clicking offensively then look out!

You would think the highest paid goalie in the league wouldn't need all of his shots blocked.

It's really good that he got those few games at the end of the year.

It could be worse; Gill, for better or worse, knows exactly what he can and can't do out there, and he's not going to overthink this stuff and be nervous

I guess it's not a huge drop off between Grossmann and Gill. Gill is basically an bigger, older, slightly slower version of Grossmann.

I think where it may have a trickle down effect is re-allocating the minutes amongst the dmen. Grossmann was averaging about 19 mins per game. No way Gill will see anything that approaches that. I assume Coburn and Timonen are going to see their ice time increased significantly.

He doesn't suck. He HAS sucked. I'm guessing a lower body injury to the groin or thigh perhaps.

I don't think theres much of a dropoff from Grossmann to Gill. Gill may be better because of the number of injuries Grossmann was dealing with.

That's not what I'm saying. That's what you're saying I'm saying.

I'm saying he has to at least generate some offensive zone pressure or something. He's not getting chances. If you're not concerned about that, than I'm not sure what there is to talk about.

You think Giroux playing the way he has is fine. I don't.
