This team seems to be built around Mason's puck handling skills to be able to get the puck into the offensive zone. Let's hope he stays healthy and keeps this team firing on all cylinders.

Through the first 4 games of this series, Flyers have been outshout:

130-97

That's an average of 32.5 to 24.3 per game. Flyers have scored 8 goals in the series, an average of two a game.

I think everyone thought in order for the Flyers to win this series, they would have to outplay the Rags by a fairly significant margin due to the presence of Lundqvist. Well it's been the complete opposite so far. I think it's a minor miracle the Flyers are tied 2-2 in this series. If they want to win it, they are going to have to play much better over the course of the final 3 games.

Good lord, the post game negativity last night!! If I didn't know any better, I would of thought the Flyers had been swept.

With that in mind here are some positives to focus on:

The Flyers starting goalie was fantastic last night and looks 100%. Considering they had to start their backup goalie for the first 3 games, to be 2-2 at this point is pretty damn good.

The Flyers have yet to have an impact game from Claude Giroux and yet the series is 2-2.

The Flyers top D pair has struggled for much of this series, yet the series is 2-2.

The Flyers powerplay has mainly struggled, at least until last night, and yet, yeah you guessed it, the series is ties at 2-2

The Flyers really haven't played their best in this series, except for short bursts, yet, wait for it.......the frankin series is tied 2-2.

So, we have a tied series, and a Flyers team, that we know, because we have seen it this season, that can play better. They are relatively healthy, even assuming Grossmann is out, as Gill is basically an older, bigger version of Grossmann.

Also the Rangers have to be worried for 2 reasons:

1. They have played very well for much of this series, yet only have a 2-2 series to show for it.

2. Their best dman may be physically breaking down and it will be MUCH harder for the Rags to replace McDonagh, then it will be for the Flyers to replace Grossmann.

So lighten the frank up and let us all say together:

GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RANGERS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^its amazing to think that they are tied, considering how pedestrian they have been for most of the series.

I really hope Berube decides to let the offense loose, because that's the only way they are going to win. Perhaps having Mason play the way he did will allow them to be more aggressive, knowing that if they do make a mistake Mason has the ability to cover their backs.

They're scrappy this series. Not giving up at all. Sound familiar?

I've been banging this drum- this series has a much different complexion with Mase back there. His puckhandling skills are clutch when breaking out of the zone, which is even more clutch when playing the Rangers.

Crazy goaltending can cover up a lot of poopty play.

They looked like a junior team in the 1st period, but got their poop together in the 2nd/3rd... whatever it is they did there, whether it was dragging the Rangers down into the mud with them and/or doing a better job of holding their own in the neutral zone, they need to bottle it for game 5.

Down 2-1 in the series in a must win game, the first period was a shock. It was probably the worst period they played in the entire series. Zero urgency/desperation. Luckily Mason was huge, and Akeson made a very nice play to set up Read. If the Flyers trail after that period it may have been a different outcome. Even tho the series is tied 2-2, based on the level of play I believe it's fools gold.

Akeson's leading the team with 10 SOG in 4-games.

Pop-quiz, who's #2? Did you guess Luke Schenn w/ 9?

I back-read the entire gameday thread last night, and holy hell, I haven't seen people so pissed during the game and then, even after they won, in my time on this board

Some folks were just straight-up pissed last night

IMO, the problem with them all year has been that they abandon/deviate from the structure of their team game way too easily.

I didn't see a lack of effort in the 1st so much as a general over-eagerness. All three forwards getting caught down low, guys making really unnecessarily risky plays at the blueline (AMac on the Moore goal), running out of position in the d-zone, etc.

When they play as a team, they can hold their own... when they don't, they look like the Oilers.
