Bozak is a first line centre on MOST NHL teams. Well rounded in most critical aspects of a centres game. He's proven himself beyond a doubt this season.
Boland deserves a one year $3 million bridge contract or less with loaded bonuses. Otherwise they can let him limp away.
Kadri is definitely a keeper unless they get an equivalent, slightly more experienced replacement + prospect OR top 2 defenseman. (Weber PLEASE GOD !!).
All others can go unless they will stay for cheap but better to sign FA, trade or replace from Marlies. There's obvious need for change but despite what the critics say, centre is the least of our worries. Change most/all lines 2-4 and entire defense and coaching staff goalie s are fine. - marklaprise
16 teams Bozak is the 1st line C on.

I think there are as many or more teams where he wouldn't be in the top six (bos, carolina, chi, col, LA, pitt, SJ, STl, Van), then there are where he would be the clear cut #1 (Buf, Cgy, Nsh, Phx, Tor, Wpg) |

a #2
d-man. - h.buzz
I think if you package kadri & your 1st, you get a real good #2 d-man..... edler, shattenkirk, or someone similar. not sure kadri gets you one all by himself though. i could see a deal like
kadri + 1st
for
edler + 2nd
that way you guys get a top pairing d-man, and the canucks get a young center to replace kesler when they move him, and a pick to help their rebuild. i think whoever you get with that pick is probably 3-4 years away, minimum, from making an legit impact..........edler is around the same age as your core group, so it's a much better fit. |

I get why you are laughing... understand completely. But here's perhaps a way to look at it that might really shed some light on the subject...
i) Ottawa has Jason Spezza as its number 1 center... who would you rather have you as your number 1 center Spezza at 7M per year or Bozak at 4M? what are the flaws in Spezza's game again?
ii) Rangers have Brad Richards as their #1 center... who would you rather have Richards "with all he brings" at 7M per year or Bozak at 4M?
are there better players than Bozak? absolutely? are there a bunch of players better than Bozak who make 4M or less? |

i'd rather have spezza and richards. if a player is paid 4 mil, it's cuz he's not a #1 center...he's a #2 or #3 center.
bozak works well with kessel and jvr, but he's not a #1 center on a large majority of NHL teams..........and like i said, he's not even a #2 center on a good number of the teams. |

Peter Holland: but did not seem well suited to playing a fourth line energy role with the likes of Frazer McLaren and Colton Orr.
Skilled players usually don't. Just another poor example player deployment. If you're going to play a player play him where he belongs, where he can be successful. No more of this bullpoop antiquated you're a rookie, you start on the 4th line and prove you belong. PLaying Mcclemment 20min/night when we were short on centers and wasting playing him on the 4th line was just moronic. Not to mention that we give up a better pick now because he played 4mins a game. |
