I'm just gonna be content with whoever we get...the last time Buffalo had a top 5 pick was Vanek in 2003 (11 years ago)......

the last time we had a top 2 pick was Pierre Turgeon in 1987..27 years ago!!

Its very good odds that if we pick Bennett or Reinhart they will be very good for the sabres for a good long time

- feetontheair22

27 years ago who would you have had the Sabres pick? Shanahan or Turgeon in hindsight? Shanahan would have been the better pick.

I've seen a lot of scouts higher on Bennett. I think Reinhart has been over hyped, especially among Sabres fans on Hb.
- GilPerreault11

Well I value Tim Murray's opinion over everyone else's . And he likes the kid. But what does he know?

Im telling you, reinhart is overrated.
- Mentalorgasm5

Not challenging your opinion, but what makes you think that? Is there anything glaring that makes you think that, or is it a gut feeling?

This is not true. Orr is from Parry Sound in Ontario, which at the time was the Leafs' territory. Bruins' scouts saw Orr at an early age when scouting a couple of other players and realized Orr was something special. They stayed in close contact with his family to "steal" him from the Leafs.

There was no draft at the time was my point . So he could not go at the top of the draft like the exceptional Ekbald will.

That's what I'm reading between the lines when I see Reinhart. I also see that with Bennett, very good with fight in him. You don't find a lot of skilled players with that. I have heard scouts compare Reinhart to David Krejci. Nice player, but 2nd overall? Another reason I'm limp towards him. We'll see in 2-3 years who is the better pick.

By the way you say that Bennett isn't a "complete" player. That's not what the OHL coaches said when they voted him 2nd best D center. That gets overlooked. Maybe Bennett needs a better publicist/agent.

Link? I think you may be looking at the wrong Bruins C

It's kind of similar this year. An over hyped, skilled center vs a skilled center with grit.

Not sure if this link has been posted, but here is Scott Cullen's take on the Sabres. Not much new to many of you, but it's a solid look at our roster and prospects.

So Tim Murray was the wrong hire if he likes Reinhart better . Good to know.

Tim Murray was gushing over Bennett in his WGR interview where he said he (Bennett) can do what the other guys do (one being Reinhart) but is a fierce competitor and will spear you etc. So, I have no idea who he likes better and don't want to hazard a guess right now.

I'll find it but I was doubted when I said that Reinhart was compared to Adam Oates and that was proven true. I don't post things I don't read from scouts/GM's.

He has gushed over Reinhart too . Saying his hockey IQ is off the charts and he is always the smartest player on the ice.

You say Reinhart is overhyped when all everyone is blabbing about is Bennett

Here, let me fix that for you:
1987:
Turgeon: Completely one dimensional, soft, offensively powerful, small center.
Shanny: Hulking, large, heavy, strong, decent offensively, LEFT WINGER

2014:
Bennett: Somewhat small, quite good offensively, above average defensively, aggressive, undisciplined C/maybe LW.
Reinhart: Average sized, very good offensively, very good defensively, disciplined and mature C/definitely not LW.

I never said that that comparison didn't happen, just that it was actually incredibly inaccurate, since Oates was pretty one dimensional, a bit feisty, and smaller.

Bennett is 8 pds less than Reinhart and 8 months younger and 2nd best D center in the OHL in his 2nd junior year. You need practice as a scout. Keep at it.

Yes, because Bennett is relatively small, has played CHL hockey for a shorter period of time, and has gotten a 2nd place ribbon in the OHL, he is totally better

Are you really going to try to mock me by calling me a scout? At least I go out and make my own opinions, and don't blindly believe every word I hear from the same people that label people like Patrik Stefan and Alex Daigle as superstars. If anything, you need some practice at scouting if you think Reinhart is anything like Turgeon, and that Bennett is anything like the LEFT WINGER Shanny. That right there is probably the most inaccurate thing I've heard in quite a while.

I think most all scouts have ranked the top 3 players in this draft being close in their talent levels. Each one has been compared favorably and unfavorably to various players already in the league. Cant we agree we'll be getting a very good player instead of fighting over it?

Both are undersized for the nhl. Could it be possible that Bennett is a flash in the pan?

Neither are undersized, actually. Bennett is somewhat/barely small at 5'11"/6'0", Reinhart is average at 6'1". Bennett could gain a few more pounds to benefit his playstyle but there is really nothing that concerning in that regard.

I was just being a richard after reading what he wrote about Leon Draisaitl, with no facts. I dont actually believe that. I do prefer bennett over reinhart though.

Bennett is gritty, high end motor, with a high level of intensity, and he can find the back of the net.

I wasn't comparing them as exact players just that one had all the love with little grit, and one got less love with a lot more grit and bigger balls. You see I don't have time to write a dissertation here so I trust you will get what what I insinuate, but I guess you are a literal guy so it has to be spelled out like I just did.

Yeah I wrote that wrong. I meant both are too light for the nhl. I like reinhart better. He has 1 more season of chl on his resume so he is more proven and he has a more nhl ready frame.
