this is Murray's signature move so far as a sabres GM
kid better be a top 6 player
http://www.hockeysfuture....rospects/hudson-fasching/ - homiedclown
His development in his first year at Minnesota was amazing. Now looks like he was a steal in the draft in the 4th round . As a freshman he was a key member of Big 10 Championship team and National runners up. |

it was really 2 seconds for him, on a team that was last in the nhl
a top 6 player is needed for his outcome |

I am talking about Fasching . He has not been in the NHL , Who are you referring to , he just finished his first year at University of Minnesota.

And a first and a prospect.
Duchesne has all the makings of a top-5 center in the league, which is one of the few assets more rare than a top defenseman. - nfph

call me biased, but i think varly has put up a better season than rask.
IMO its no surprise that boston has had a goalie with fantastic numbers since chara has been on the back end. Even their back ups have had consistently good numbers, and while chad johnson is good, he's certainly nothing to write home about.
colorado doesnt have nearly the names on the blue line boston does, and varly has absolutely stood on his head for a young(ish) team that finished second to last in the previous season.
rask might be the better tender, but i think varly had the better season. more wins, only a marginal difference in save %, but a MASSIVE MASSIVE difference in shots faced.
varly faced 400 more shots than tuuka in just 5 more games played. he faced almost 150 more than the next closest tender.
crazy.
Also, just some fun buffalo goaltender facts to get us ready for next year
in the 40 games miller played for buffalo he was 15-22-3. not exactly terrible considering how bad we were.
The rest of our goalies combined for 47 games played (42 games started) with a record of 6-29-7.
obviously theres a little bit of overlap as there aren't 87 games in a season, but /shrug. still pretty hilarious. |

SO pumped for next year. - Putzfrau
To be fair, those goalies also had to play on a team with no Steve Ott or Matt Moulson and Tyler Myers missed significant time. Also Many of them were making their NHL debut, some of which jumped from the ECHL to the AHL then NHL in 2 weeks. We technically started our 10th string goalie to end the season. Not exactly a recipe for success.

i'm well aware, and it does play into that.
however, we wont be a team with steve ott or matt moulson next year either.
and it's not as if a season of enroth and neuvirth is that much different.
leiuwan, hackett and knapp started 14 games and had 2 wins.
enroth started 26 and had 4. |

So you're saying we suck?
Murray said he expect a lot of roster turnover. Im thinking No Leino, No John Scott and probably many others. The defense should be better too. Should be interesting.

i'm saying we could be worse next year
hopefully the defense is better. a whole year of myers would be nice, he looked like he was starting to turn around.
a lot of these hypothetical trade proposals suggest shipping off erhoff. even if risto and mccabe make big strides next year thats still a net loss in talent for that season IMO. |

We won't be worse next year. We almost can't be. If I survived that season I can survive anything as a fan.
I could see moving Erhoff at next years deadline. You could tell he wasn't into it after this years came and went. We fielded a weak defense last year because it wasn't the right time to commit to better players. I'm all for letting the young guys like Risto, Zadorov and McCabe take their time getting ready. Maybe one decent off season acquisition to help stabilize things and this team wont be so bad. |

could you perhaps elaborate on why you think so?
full season without a vanek/ott/moulson. full season without miller. hypothetically without erhoff.
lets say we even make a big splash. lets say we sign callahan. i still think, on paper at least, we are a worse team next year then this year.
i'd love someone to show me why i might be wrong.
Edit: realize that came off a little poopty, but i was trying to be genuine. |

It's impossible to ice this roster next season as it will be below the cap floor, and yes, Hodgson and Ennis |

There's several players on the roster that will get small pay bumps.
Adding one or two big FA contracts won't make next year's team substantially better than the current team |

I don't want any significant changes but IMO whether we finish dead last or not the team will be better
We have more players progressing than we have regressing |
