What would be a ton in your eyes?
- Stripes77

Myers+
Ehrhoff+

Top 5 pick

IMO if we are gonna target a young budding forward

One of Hodgson,Ennis, Foligno or Ehrhoff+ Pick or prospect

Appreciate your enthusiasm . They are all huge overpayments . Reserved for the impatient season Ticket holders . So you get one of these stars and you have no one decent to play around them . I would rather be patient and have Tim Murray and Mr Devine draft our own superstars for the long term success of the franchise.
- Maximum Signal

Also, it all starts with acquiring high talent one way or the other. Making one of these trades is still gonna put us 3 years out, so maybe you reform one of the options that leaves out the buf or NYI lotto pick in 14 or 15 to snag a top line forward in which we desperately need.

I don't know if you saw the original posts, but these trade scenarios were developed from 'drafting Ekblad and trading one of our D'. Does that change your thought process a bit?
- TheSabresTaco

No . Because now I have to develop Ekbald for three to four years to play with this superstar . And I still have given away all my potential star forwards with no one to play with him . You make this sort of trade 3 years down the road when you have developed some offensive talent of your own . Irish and Sabrecat thank you for fulfilling their dreams of a instant rush to 8th for mediocre draft picks in the future . No long term success of the franchise. Do you have a Crystal ball telling you the Islanders pick will be a lottery pick . With the return of Tavares the team might not be that bad as you seem to think.

The Sabres pick is pretty much a guaranteed top 2 though
- Stripes77

Logic and probability say yes. I'm going into serial mode if we land outside top 2 though.

I would move Ehrhoff plus for him, mostly because I can't stand the Hoff

I hear ya but for something you can kinda control (like not being good) I wouldn't move that pick unless you are getting a superstar in return

Easy killer. Don't throw me in with that cockamamie duo's proposals. I'd first like to clarify that my trade proposals were hypothetical and I was simply responding to sabrecat and entertaining due to the boringness of the threads these days. Second, I was simply picking 4 different defencemen and asserting their value for trade options Murray would actually consider. Young first line or verge first line players. I want this team to develop patiently as much as anyone, but using the premise that if we draft Ekblad, then we trade a defender and we were to choose one of these scenarios to acquire one star talent, it could be worth it. Drafting 3 top line players will take a long time, if not to develop them. A trade will happen. One way or the other.

Right, but I don't think Murray is planning on trading a ton for a guy with 10 games under his belt.
- sbroads24

I would like to see him go after some players with upside that need a change of scenery

Dustin Tokarski in net
Sven Baertschi type players up front

Is Duchene outside of that attainable superstar?

Yes , Colorado is not moving any of that young core of Forwards . They will look to free agency and the draft to build the defense.

I like the idea and we could maybe get him on the cheap. He seems to have work ethic problems though. Do we really want to deal with more of that.

If the sabres went after Brett Connolly and Ryan Strome, I am not against them taking Ekblad

You know this is for pure value sake and not to be meant as realistic trades right. Come on Max you're all

You are greatly under valuing Myers for starters . I know for a fact from the few connections I have outside the Sabres organization that he is a lot more highly thought of then you want to give him credit for.

your going to get them for 50 cents or less on the dollar and Nolan is the coach to work on work ethic

I really think going after a few of those type players can help turn this around quick

I really do not see them tanking again next season

He is quickly approaching bust territory. I'm not saying I wouldn't take a flyer on him, but acquiring him should not be the reason why you take Ekblad or vice versa. Only reason they should take him is if they feel he's the player that can help the team the most.

If they are adamant about taking a forward, then the only reason to take Ekblad would be if they acquired an unquestionable top six forward under say 26 and gave up a defensemen in the process.

You may in fact be correct. All I'm asking of this crowd is to toss value assessments around. That's it. Take the whole "they'd never trade him" BS out. Value.

Myers and.. what. For Duchene.

If I was Ehrhoff I would much rather play for the Panthers...no pressure, next to nothing in taxes, and the roster around him is better
