I won't enjoy Gilbert because they passed on him when he was on waivers and I will enjoy Strome, Pulock, Reinhart and possibly Del Colle - Vukota
And while I expect Garth to be more aggressive this offseason in terms of getting help, I certainly don't believe he'd become so overly aggressive as to trade two of his most prized assets for a commodity he's about to become extremely rich in. Not when he can hire a second pairing guy and keep his gems.

Exactly. I would love Subban but I wouldn't give up two of our top prospects and a top 5 pick for him. You then have nothing left to trade for a goalie |

Forget Montreal would turn that down in a heart beat. KenCan ruins the trade - kasperrko

In a perfect world, they overpay for both and come away with a decent top four dman and Halak via UFA. |

Dan Seriously what and who do you think it would take to get Subban?? - kasperrko
depends how much Subban forces their hand.... I'd say Nelson or Strome one of the d prospects... And either a first rounder or maybe a guy like grabner. |

So you would trade Strome, Reinhart and a 1st for subban? - Vukota
If wouldn't start with that deal but if push came to shove... Yes I would.. While I feel that Reinhart had elite d zone awareness I don't expect much from him offensively. I think you could move one of the d prospects and be in good shape |

I'm gonna say something I might get blasted for in here but I'm not as high on Reinhart as others are.. I see someone capable of being a really good stay at home defenseman but I see limited offensive ability and not enough of a mean streak for someone of that size. Once again this is just my opinion and I can clearly be wrong |

Well, you won't get blasted as much as I probably will for saying I actually agree with the Rangers fan who said how much we overrate our prospects. There are rookies who stepped in this year and really turned some heads around the league. None of them played for the New York Islanders. I'm not saying ours are crap. Not at all. But it seems like everyone who looked like they could become competent NHLers are elevated to elite status around here. Let's give it time before we start saying they're better than players already putting up points, or counting on a rookie who scored a whopping 17 points to run the power play. |

you have to pleased at what Strome, Nelson, CDH and to an extent Lee showed this season but honestly outside of Mackinnon who looked like an all star already this season.. takes time... |

That's a big time over payment for a guy who has had one year with more then 40 points and isn't exactly know for his D. I undertstand he is only 24 but to give up 3 top 5 picks for him would be insane IMO |

Well , I guess point totals say a lot. I dont believe they say everything, but in 37 games, it looks like Strome couldn't produce consistantly. Nuge had basically the same numbers a year ago in the AHL as Strome has now. I'm not knocking Strome, I just think there is a reason he wasn't picked ahead of Nuge at their draft. I predict RNH will finish next season somewhere between 10th and 15th among Centers. This past year he finished 27th. - Jeropotato
I'm pretty high on Strome. He was playing on the fourth line for the most part when he was up. He has a much wider spectrum to his game then I thought he would and has some pretty good hands and nasty shot. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people next season. He's still a prospect and it was a small sample size but from what I've seen I'm pretty certain he's going to be quite good. Not saying he's going to be better than anyone but I'm pretty excited to see him next season. |

He only played a handful of shifts on the fourth line.. Majority was the third line until all the injuries... I don't think he is going to surprise any off us. He has all world talent and I think 40-50 points is feasable.. Yes I'm high on Strome as well |

The reason Subban is likely available is because the Habs are skeptical paying him - Dan Petriw
Why are they skeptical if he is such a stud? |

I remember him playing quite a bit on the fourth line maybe I'm wrong? I'd be happy with that production. I still think he has potential to be a 60-70 pt player but I'd be happy with that and what looks like a half way decent defensive game. |

They don't want to commit to him for 8 years at 8 or 9 per... Their are other factors playing into it as well.. |

Yes I think he can be a 60-70 point guy.. But that is unrealistic for next season |

I'll pass as well. Rather hold on to guys like Strome, Reinhart, and Pulock along with Lee and Nelson. - ses111
I agree. Unless the return is a Chara LIKE "D" man who can dominate games for the next 10 yrs. Then no way do I trade Strome. Not even for PK Subban. Especially if he's in a package with our top "D" prospects.
I've been watching hockey since the late 1960's. The last rookie Islander who impressed me like Strome impresses me was Ziggy Palfy. 1st time I saw Ziggy play I knew he was special. I feel the same way about Strome. He'll be special. Soon rather then later. |
