Any thoughts on this?

Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun: Jones wonders if the Oilers are not able to draft Aaron Ekbad with their first round pick, they could offer it to Islanders for Griffin Reinhart. Reinhart was the fourth overall pick two years ago.

We need Reinhart too. Defence is our biggest on ice problem.

I thought Oates would make a good coach. McPhee was long overdue. More teams making moves instead of our Islanders.

Charles is too busy trying to work out keeping 25% of the team to pick a new GM.

No GM.. NONE... would have just let Josh Bailey walk...

Martin?? half on this board were calling him the second coming of christ just 2 seasons ago. Alot even wanted him on the first line.

Its easy to say you would have traded this or done that, but the players you would have signed have to want to sign with you & you have to find another GM willing to trade with you for what you want, you cant just say i want this guy, this guy & that guy and it just happens.

Martin is an effective player. Didn't have the best season but he is not your average goon. Why would anyone want to trade the guy? The bailey deal was not a bad one of course in hind sight its hard to say that but shat happens. We should all be hoping for bailey to bring it to another level next season bcs we are stuck with him. You cant hate Snow for either of things especially Martin. Where did that come from?

I wonder if any other professional would even want to take the isles GM job, since what happened w/Neil Smith?

It was said long ago that snow was following the Nashville model. That model to me is not changing much if anything for better or worse. Not a good recipe for success imo.

Martin is not the reason, just lost some of his balls to Sydney Essiason this past year. But Bailey should of been offered another bridge contract not 5yrs. Bailey was still RFA status and didn't have much leverage, and was actually shocked by Snow on that contract offer.

I agree. I rather follow the Wings or Kings or Blackhawks model.

The team as a whole took a step back this past season. Lets face it capuano is the absolute worst coach for a player like bailey. Hes not much of a motivator. If bailey is invisible nect yr ill feel comfortable calling the contract a bad one. As ridiculous as it sounds I think we r going to see a different bailey next season capuano or not.

Edit; want to make it clear I'm not blaming Capuano for Bailey's inconsistency but it doesn't help having him as a coach.

Asking price is said to be top prospect blue chip prospect and a pick. How about this offer. NYI: STROME, PULOCK, COLLBERG/SUNDSTROM and 1st for SUBBAN and 1st. If new york wants to keep 1st cuz they will lose next years. Then how about STROME ,REINHART, COLLBERG/SUNDSTROM/LEE for SUBBAN. reinhart replaces 1st. Still meets the asking price of top prospect. Blue chip dman and a lesser prospect. Many might say thats crazy and it probly is but keep in mind if subban hits the market i guarrantee you 30gms willl enter the mix. And if oilers of hall+ or philly with couturier and schenn you can bet thoses are what it will take from islanders
- bast_003

There is as much a chance Oilers offer Hall for Subban as the Islanders offering up Tavares. The mere suggestion of this shows your finger is clearly not on the pulse of the Edmonton Oilers, but more or less up your ass.

I find it funny when fans of other teams include hall in trade rumors. Completely nuts. That is one player on the oilers thats NOT getting traded anytime soon.

I've always thought the Oilers should have tried to trade that #1 pick (Yak) for D or a big package of NHL goods/ready prospects.

Oilers core is Hall, RNH, Eberle, Gagne, Shultz an now Perron,

Kid has some time under his belt now. Big season coming up. Has all the potential in the world. I was happy when those rumors involving him with the rangers never happened.

Martin was too comfortable this season. If he isn't careful the kids may make him expendable

No. Reinhart is the only really talented big man coming through the system. We have been dying for a big defender we can keep for years and now that he is >1year away we trade him?

Ovi was a -100 last season a little defense wouldn't kill him.
