Asking price is said to be top prospect blue chip prospect and a pick. How about this offer. NYI: STROME, PULOCK, COLLBERG/SUNDSTROM and 1st for SUBBAN and 1st. If new york wants to keep 1st cuz they will lose next years. Then how about STROME ,REINHART, COLLBERG/SUNDSTROM/LEE for SUBBAN. reinhart replaces 1st. Still meets the asking price of top prospect. Blue chip dman and a lesser prospect. Many might say thats crazy and it probly is but keep in mind if subban hits the market i guarrantee you 30gms willl enter the mix. And if oilers of hall+ or philly with couturier and schenn you can bet thoses are what it will take from islanders |

I figured it was extreme. So how about instead of hab fans with trade offers. Whatdo you islanders fans offer? Say for the sake of fun. Hes available and you can argue all u want about not wanting or needing him but say you do. What would your offers be? |

The problem is we have guys here and on the way who can provide offense from the blue line (de Haan, Pulock, Donovan, Hickey, etc.)- what we need is a guy who is a beast in front of his own net. It's just not a fit, especially for all of that. |

I can not for the life of me understand how NBC selects Butch Goring to be the color commentator for the Ducks/Stars series.
Sorry, off topic...but I don't get it |

Understandable, if fans are willing to keep waiting. I for one hope they do. Islanders will be a solid team in 2-3 years then they should wait. I was simply going with the flow of the article. I for one hope subban stays in montreal. If he cant follow defensive assignments then do like brent burns did. Become a forward. Hes got the skills loves to dangle speed to burn he may even get better oppertunities to unleash his one time as a forward. Hmm theres a thought to consider.lol |

Subban is a fantastic player but should be paired with a defensive defenseman who can cover for him, which is what would help our defense as well, and with his salary likely skyrocketing and his issues with his coaches, I'd rather pass. That's before even talking about what it would take to trade for him. |

For argument's sake CDH, hickey and Donovan combined had one more point than PK. And the beast you are looking for doesn't really exist much anymore. The game has changed. |

A little bit....though not as much as Capuano and Snow think it has. They're stuck in the mid 1980's, when a team that had players that today would be worthy of a $100M plus payroll skated all over everyone else on a nightly basis. You can't have that team now, period- you must play defense. I'd rather have a top end, defensive defenseman than Subban, any day of the week. Of course, we actually need a goalie before worrying about anything else. |

Any thoughts on this?
Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun: Jones wonders if the Oilers are not able to draft Aaron Ekbad with their first round pick, they could offer it to Islanders for Griffin Reinhart. Reinhart was the fourth overall pick two years ago.

First and foremost I would never have given Bailey any type of contract he would have been released or reassigned back to the AHL. MArtin I would have probably not have brought up either or would only use him for spot starts. Poulin would not have seen the NHL at all. Instead would have gone out and signed some FA and or traded some picks and or prospects for some talent. It is actually simple. You can still put together a decent team with little money. Through sports the small teams have been able to accomplish that. Well except the Islanders of course - kasperrko
No GM.. NONE... would have just let Josh Bailey walk...
Martin?? half on this board were calling him the second coming of christ just 2 seasons ago. Alot even wanted him on the first line.
Its easy to say you would have traded this or done that, but the players you would have signed have to want to sign with you & you have to find another GM willing to trade with you for what you want, you cant just say i want this guy, this guy & that guy and it just happens.

Why would we want that since our target would have been Ekbad as well?

Funny thing is, that I heard that PK is best friends with JT, so if PK gets traded to another team, I could see him taking a contract that covers his RFA status and might think to hit the FA market and possibly team w/JT.... |

Im not saying Isles would want that either, I think Snow thinks he has enough Dmen/prospects that I think he's looking for impact F/W's.
I would want Ekblad as well |

Or he can sign with a real franchise and wait till JT joins him over there.
