You missed Martinek but hey whatever. You know what I was saying though. Ok maybe the past 3 years or so. whatever still the same team over and over again. If you look at that roster how many of them are in the NHL still? Not many. Typical Islanders SON! - kasperrko
why do i even bother with you?? you call me out on "not doing my homework" and then dont own up to being 100% wrong-- also martinek is a free agent-- then you conveniently cut your parameters by 40% and chalk it up to "you know what i was saying"
edit: i just saw the last line-- which goes against your ENTIRE first argument; talk about chasing your tail!!!
"LEts face it the bunch that we have right now for the past 5 years has not been really successful, so a change is needed"

Well you know what I was trying to say, but for some reason you feel like you have to nitpick at everything to make yourself look good or something. Honestly this team for the past 5 years has no success. We hardly make changes to the team except for bottom of the barrel players. Then people like you come along who don't want to trade away any prospects to make the team better. I just don't get Islander fans sometimes. You would think they would want a better team but I guess losing is the norm to them and they are happy - kasperrko
nitpick...you said 5 years...but really meant 3...
with that thinking garth said itll be 5 years but really he meant 8, stop nitpicking!!
EDIT: there are 7 players from 3 years ago that still remain on the team...bailey, Neilsen, Okposo, JT, Grabner, Hamonic, Matt Martin, poulin....what would you have done differently with these 8 guys from just 3 years ago?? show off those GM skills you speak so highly of. |

First and foremost I would never have given Bailey any type of contract he would have been released or reassigned back to the AHL. MArtin I would have probably not have brought up either or would only use him for spot starts. Poulin would not have seen the NHL at all. Instead would have gone out and signed some FA and or traded some picks and or prospects for some talent. It is actually simple. You can still put together a decent team with little money. Through sports the small teams have been able to accomplish that. Well except the Islanders of course |

here's the thing - you either build through the draft and suck a lot for a long time until you get better, or you continually trade assets a ton and tread water, or you do it the right way and develop the prospects by putting capable vets next to them.
so far we're doing the first, with crappy vets.
The only issue I ever have with you is the fact that you go back and forth to extremes. No one here is suggesting we don't trade any prospects, but we're sure as hell not wanting to see guys like Strome, Reinhart, Pulock traded before we even know what we have, especially when we don't have the depth to recover from trading multiple prospects. Your initial post was saying you would keep JT and Okposo, but everyone else was available. That's unrealistic and not a good way to build a team. There are kids we've drafted and waited on for a few years, why would we suddenly trade them away when they're just becoming nhl ready before we even see what we have?
Snow has failed at addressing the critical weakness in goal and on defense. That's a fair statement. Think any of those kids would have still been Islanders after 2 years if Milbury was the GM? We would have already moved them all for bit parts that were old and declining.
we have the summer to see what happens in goal and on defense. settle down.

Now I'm calling bullsh1t. You let bailey walk after last season and you'd be laughed out of a job for releasing an asset that appeared to have figured it out. No way that happens and you're full of it. Come on man, stop posting stupid sh1t. |

Ill have to agree with you on this one. While my hatred for Snow is rather bitter, there was no way he could have let Bailey walk after what he showed in the second half of last season.
That being said, I do not agree to the term and money he is getting paid. I think one or two less years would have been better.
However I don't think any of us expected Bailey to be this terrible this season. Easily one of the worst and most frustrating guys on the roster. It makes Snow look worse after Baileys performance this year, but I don't think it would have been a good idea for Snow to not sign him (at the time anyway).
In regards to Wangs sale, from the outlets I have read about it on, Wang still wants to be involved with the team. My very unfortunate feeling is that as long as Wang is remotely involved with this team, Snow will be your GM. It will probably be written in the clause of a sale. Wang needs to be 100% gone in order for this team to go through any sort of major overhaul. |

Superb defenseman....you can't argue with one thing- this team WAS better without him. A LOT better: 11-5-3 without him, 23-32-8 with him. 2.78 goals against without him, 3.11 goals against with him- that's more than one goal every four games, translating to one less goal against in 15 games; games that might have been wins, or at least points, as opposed to regulation losses. Those are the stats that matter to me- never mind Corsi, blocked shots, or anything else. Not that those don't indicate anything at all, but the winning and the improvement in the defense kind of speak for themselves.
All of that said...at least some of this relates to how he was used (as a power play quarterback, instead of a stay at home 5), and how much he was used (which was inexplicably excessive), rather than just being all his fault....but he was not good, not by any stretch of the meaning of "good". |

Flyers are using him in all situations.. So that "he was playing too much and is being misused" doesn't really fly cause he is still logging serious ice time |

And he's still playing awful. I counted 4 turnovers in the first period, he got lazy on the first goal against and stopped short in front of the net and got caught twice more. I fell asleep in the intermission until now so I can't comment on the rest. Streit and Amac pairing is hilarious though. 10 mil third pairing. |

I couldn't agree more with the bold.
The non-bold I couldn't disagree more. NO ONE is putting that much money on the line without wanting some control over the organization. I won't even buy into a $50 fantasy team without control. If Snow remaining GM is part of the deal then we are (frank)ED! |

Yeah, he still sucks. He did what he does best against Carcillo the other night- swept the puck out of the net after the red lamp was already on.
By the way, Dan- the reason they're still using him in all situations is because they're paying him as much as two of him should be making. |

If he sells 75% ownership, the only thing he'll have to do with the team is a seat in the owner's box, and his share of the revenue. He won't get to pick the GM, that's for d*mned sure. |
