If MAF didn't have a track record of melt downs I would say no he's not to blame. He is to blame as much as the rest of the team is. Since he's the goalie the spotlight shines a little brighter.
I can only hope the pens continue to crumble in the face of adversity.
With MAF being a head case that's a real possibility.
Where has Crosby and Malikin been? They deserve scrutiny for sure.

His track record has nothing to do with it. He misplayed a puck and then let in a weak wrister from far out. It doesn't matter that his team was getting worked, he made those saves just fine. Doesn't excuse the two goals he let in. The Penguins all share blame for the loss, but Fleury should have at least given them a better chance in OT.

Fleury bets on the Pens playoff games with his Portuguese bookie. He's been letting goals in on purpose for years......

Not Fleury's fault? The game isn't in overtime except for his unbelievable blunder. Then, he lets a wrist shot from the blue line sail right past him, like, 2 minutes into overtime. He's directly, single-handedly responsible for last night's loss.

But, then he couldn't have argued like a 10 year old with everyone who disagreed with him.

Since the management committed 100% to status quo last summer (Disco, Fleury, Malkin, Letang, Dupuis, Scuderi), I’ve stopped caring about the on-ice results of this team. The only way forward was then and is now a very drastic and complete rebuild from the top down. The culture of the team needs to change.

I just want to get it jotted down that among and around Penguin fans, the reaction from my inconvenient questions has been an attempt to grasp for free pass or claim treachery, par example;

“You must really hate Letang.”
“Yeah, you’re right, Bylsma is the worst coach to win his division by 13 points ever.”
“Why don’t you just root for the Flyers?”
“Well, the Penguins could be up 3-1 by your logic.”
“Do you actually enjoy watching the games?”

The management, coaching staff, and team are woeful. I’m not depressed about how the Penguins are playing in the playoffs; that’s how they’re engineered. It’s a losing model. I’m depressed that last summer’s trade value for Malkin, Fleury, Letang, and Sutter were much better than it will be this summer.

Once again, replacing the coach or the goalie is not the kind of measure needed for this group of players. President, GM, Coach, total rebuild from the goal out. Young forwards, promotion of the stockpile of young D, implementation of a robust counterattack system. The opportunity was missed last summer to maximize trade return; I hope Pittsburgh doesn't miss the opportunity to put a winning team around Crosby while he’s still in his prime.

I agree, I think they should have moved Malkin and kept Staal as the #2 center. There just isn't much support on the roster.

From Coach Bylsma:

"He was our best player in the game last night and unfortunately a mistake with the bouncing puck there behind the net cost us in the last 30 seconds of the game," Bylsma said Thursday. "Typically, the rule of thumb is pucks on the glass, you stay in net. Pucks on the dasher, you have a truer read on the play. Given the time of the game, the puck gets rimmed in, the play is to stay in the net and not go out and attempt a play on the puck.

"This one was on the glass and Marc knows he should've stayed in the net. I think they would've touched it first anyway, but we should've stayed in the net."

I love MAF...love him...every year I have the delight of watching his outstanding play during the regular season build up huge expectations for the Pens only for it to come crashing down like a piano from the 50th floor when he chokes.

Watching a Pens game in the playoffs is like pressing play on a Youtube video of a guy getting on a motorcycle for the first time: you know exactly how it's going to end but you wait for the carnage and burst into laughter every time.

Sorry Pens fans...I know its got to be hard but at least it isnt the 24 hr train wreck that is Wang/Snow on Long Island.

Blame Fleury for letting in 2 horrible goals - the equalizer and game winner in a playoff game!? The nerve!! Of course he's not solely responsible for the loss; no one player ever is in a team game, but you can't deny he choked huge.... again.

MAF is finished. only Bryzgalov is a worse playoff goalie. Bylsma will be fired and MAF will be bought out if they lose this series.

I think that is a bit much...Bylsma will have some tough conversations and may be at risk but I don't think he is out yet.

MAF might be traded but he won't be bought out. Islanders would pay a ransom for him much less a number of other teams. Besides, unless the Pens are able to grab Miller in UFA who are they going to get to replace MAF?

Go for broke and send Letang, MAF, and picks to the island for Taveras and try to win every game 9-8.
