In my view the Flyers need more goal scoring from the forwards. And Lecavalier is one of the best suited to that on the team. It's a catch 22. A younger player might give you more puck pressure, but the Flyers had oodles of that in game 3. They carried the play possession wise. They lost
- MJL

They shot 3%.

If they carry play again, there's a high probability that they score more goals.

So if the Flyers do not resign Emery for next season, who do you think they will get to replace him? Bring up Heeter? Sign a veteran like Giguere or Clemmensen?

I didn't view Game 3 like that -- I thought the shots they took were not quality shots, and I didn't feel that game was tilted in their favor -- it was over when it was 3-1, in my opinion, and that means, to me, that you aren't capable of turning them over in tight spaces and making quick plays in transition.

Again: I could be wrong. This is a tough nut to crack -- believe me, I still believe in Vinny's hands and ability to score. I think he absolutely knows where to go and what to do when he gets there.

I just think, in this series...the "getting there" just might be 90 percent of the battle.

Put him on the 4th line.
- Streit2ThePoint

Unfortunately, the Rangers' 4th-line is good enough to expose him in a 4th-on-4th matchup there, too.

VL was able to eat up lesser players (goons and 3rd-pairing D) during the season... but the Rangers just don't have any weak links to exploit. And on the flip side, the Rangers have been feasting on Vinny whenever he's on the ice, whether he's been on the 4th or the 2nd.

I thought the Rangers were very comfortable in playing that type of Game 3. Who knows what possession would have looked like when they actually needed to step up to score again. Besides Hartnells chance the Flyers had nothing going.

Akeson, Couturier, Luke Schenn
- Jsaquella

You're going to be shocked. I agree. Although I think Jake has played really well as well.

Jake, Akeson, Coots, and L. Schenn have been better or at my expectations. Emery also did what I expected him to do. He gave us a chance each game to win. Can't ask for more than that from your backup.

Biggest disappointments for me:

Giroux - Not because of the points, but because he looks scared.
Timonen - He should be sitting before Vinny
Wayne "No Show" Simmonds - <---
Hartnell - Score 100 goals a year, I don't care. We signed him because he's gritty. I think he's forgotten how to play that side of the game. He wants to be a skilled guy now.

Yeah Streit and Mac have both been excellent. Heck Grossman, for as much as I have come to dislike him, hasn't been terrible.

Luke Schenn has more goals that Giroux, Vinny, Hartnell, Read, Schenn, and Coots combined.

That's when you know you're not doing well.

Yes, a lot of the Flyers shots were not quality shots, hence the low shooting percentage. I would think they would score more goals, if they carry play again. But the reality is that it isn't just a statistical anomaly. Nor can the stats just be looked at as a reason why. The shooting percentage was because the Flyers failed to get to the net, and failed to create quality chances. So they can carry play all they want, if they don't get more traffic and more pucks to the net, it won't matter. Just another example of the flawed stats of corsi, and other advanced stats.
And as far as Lecavalier, he has the shot to beat Lundqvist clean, which is why he should stay in the lineup.

Feasting? The Rangers have been feasting on most of our players. So that seems a little rough to say.

Flyers 'won' the possession game in the last one based on shot attempts, but I suspect that actual zone-times were about even, and the disparity in shots probably was due more to the Rangers going into a shell after going up 2-0 on the road.

But yeah, even if the Rangers left the door open a crack, the Flyers do get credit for pushing it open and playing much better in the 2nd and 3rd... and hopefully they're feeling better about themselves ahead of game 4, because the first 7 periods of this series were brutal.

Who would you rather have question #2:

For 2014-2015 (and beyond):
Brayden Schenn or Mike Richards, keeping in mind their age, contracts (or current lack thereof, but you can ballpark Schenn's), and any perceived progression/regression.

Lecavalier has been a quality player his entire career. And has been able to play against quality players his entire career and is still capable of it. How exactly have the Rangers been feasting on Lecavalier specifically? This is where the problems are. When one player is singled out.
