The most by such a marginal percentage, that it holds no value as a determining factor.
If we use your logic that one player's ice time as the factor which determines wins and losses, the goalie is the reason a team wins or losses. His ice time is nearly three times that of the skater playing the most minutes. - 1979AD
Then only player on the ice assigned wins and loses as a stat. Why? Because he can affect the outcome. Why can't a player playing the next most? |

If some GM out there thinks as much of Gardiner as most Leaf fans, then I hope that GM would offer something worthwhile to get him. Trade the Tea Cup. - Woderwick
That's the thing. Trade him for that great deal that doesn't have his glaring weaknesses. Problem is hockey people see the problem too. |

I just want people banned for racial, cancer jokes etc... just stuff that's way too evil. Swearing and chirping (funny chirps) I'm all for.
Too bad it's the opposite sometimes. - HipHopisDead
Only for the word Gardiner today....the ban button isn't working though. |

is that the reason - because they effect the outcome?
They should do relative stat... Jake gets 7 loses on the year total after adding up all the gaffs he made. |

Seriously why not use that statistic? The goalie gets assigned a win or loss. Why not assign a percentage to every player based on ice time every game? See who you win with.

Ok - honesthockey
Getting hurt is part of the game. It'll never be "safe."
Adding some things to slow the game down will probably make it more safe but when an NHLr is in a wheelchair or dead due to injury (not health issue) I wonder what will happen then?

A stat that nobody holds to too much value because it's seen as a 'team stat'.
When you evaluate a goalie statistically is W/L one of the most or least important?
And, like I said, the next closest guy with the most ice time played 3 times less than the goalie, and likely just a minute or two more than the guy with the 3rd most icetime. |

Some of the hits people are taking are ridiculous. There's no need for them. Hitting = Separating player from puck.
Also the league needs to find more respect for each other. You can hate, play rough, go hard. But respect the people you're playing against. Just like the Read hit on Carcillo. |

I think that's what the Acutuaries are trying to do... find a money ball hockey stat...
didn't a bunch of groups present to Nonis their numbers and Noni turn them all down? (that's probably too simple but you never know).

There's a good chance some GMs really like Gardiner. I don't think we could get an amazing offer on him but could get a decent piece back for him which is the same thing he is, a decent piece. |

It's a team game! Every stat is a team stat.
Why not use the tool of ice time correlation with wins and loses? |

Like I said wins and loses the only thing that matters.
So break it down. Wins and loses when each player plays the MOST on the TEAM. takes everyone into account. - honesthockey
Doesnt matter... If gretzky howe orr, lemieux and lidstrom(all in their prime)..... all played on the same line and played 25 min a game... but their lines 2-4 were ECHL players because of Salary Cap issues... would it be their fault if they were losing 8-6 everynight but scoring all 6 goals and allowing maybe .5 against every night.....
They would be playing the most and have a losing record.. Just saying.... |
