That's crap! The players can't do what is requested.

The only way you get to a better possession team is to win puck battles. The players in this lineup can't do that. Coach can only give you the ideas. You have to be able to perform them.

the players are committed to what RC tells them.. you can see they all do it.. it just doesnt work well. the solution is to tell the players to do it harder.

I read a great breakdown last week on it... I cant post it here
if the leafs could just get back to being a 48% possession team instead of 41 that would make a big difference

If the Leafs could get it out of their own zone once in a while that make a big difference. No stats to back it up, but the Leafs easily lead the league in failed zone clears. The wingers are a huge part in that. Puck gets up to the blueline and the wingers fail to get it the rest of the way out.

Wait a minute. Are you saying that the puck magically ends up in your possession? How do you get possession?

If it was from one of the competing sites, I know which one you mean.

Basically we have gotten worse under RC and continue to do so, just as the Ducks did, and then recovered after he left....

numbers are useful.. as a tool.. but the game isnt played on paper

the players still have to execute and battle

The most important stat.

There are other ones which point to why there was a win or loss, and whether the current progress, whatever it is, is sustainable.

I think he means that RC's system is designed to fail.

the fowards drop back very low.. there is not much of an outlet pass. RC relies on chip/dump and chase. Teams have figured out ways to stop it.

So in watching a game you can't tell who's had the territorial play? I mean honestly you don't need statistics to tell you this.

Not with execution. Players drop low as a support mechanism. Out man the opponent. Problem is no one wins the puck.
