Pittburgh can acquire a decent goalie without giving up Malkin.

After reading this article, I would hope the Pens win in 6, with the next two games being utter blowouts. Holy crap Eklund, you are acting like this was a 2 out grand slam in the world series to win 4-3, not a 3-0 comeback in the first round of a playoffs with two free goals given via 5-3 and a horrid empty net to tie.

Had this been in game 7, or at least to win the series, sure, make it a spectacle, but its not, so grow up. This was a laughable read, and a loss of credibility to you as a writer.

Going against my own principle of "never feeding a troll" but....well enjoy this meal...

Wow. If you can't see the excitement of a city getting its first playoff win in the manner that this happened then you are truly without any ability to see from the perspective of others. And that is kind of sad. Listen I get the anger if it was your team who lost or your team missed the playoffs...I get that.

But isn't it strange to you how almost EVERYONE else on commenting on this, on this site and elsewhere, get the importance and pure joy of this victory? With the exception of the professional trolls of course, but lord, even if you HATE me, to hate this particular blog on this particular game is...well interesting to me on several levels because if you are a fan of this sport, which it would assume you are, what happened in that arena last night IS this sport at its most dramatic.

You are entitled to your opinion, and I won't delete you or ban you for it...even if all your opinion is, is an attempt to discredit me in a different way. I write plenty of blogs I know will draw out the haters or the folks who get off daily by taking swipes into the air at me or others they read on a daily basis...but this blog about this game?

Well..you are full by now...feel free to explain further.

Really good teams have a window of opportunity. It stays open for about five years. During that period they are an elite team capable of winning every game, every series and, of course the Stanley Cup. But it is apparant to everyone when that window closes on an elite team. We understand major changes will be needed in the core structure of the team if they want to return to being an elite challenger. This year the window closed for LA and Vancouver.

But, perhaps, Pittsburgh needs to be added to the list. They do not frighten the Blue Jackets or anyone else. Last year they were destroyed by Boston. Their grand downward slide began when the Flyers and Giroux came back on them a few playoffs back. This team is no longer a serious contender.

I think this is perfectly fair at this point.

I am sorry if it came off that way. Not my intention. I have nothing against the Penguins at all. I have covered them in person at two Cup finals and written several glowing stories about them. I am the guy who has written that Crosby is among my favorite superstars of all time and perhaps the grittiest superstar since Gordie Howe. To Pens fans this was just a game that your team stopped playing for and got caught. Just a game that ties a series which you still have a great shot at winning. I was just looking at it from the other side of it and feeding off that emotion. That is one hell of a way to win your first ever home playoff game.

A) that's Edmonton, a hockey hotbed
B) that was to win a series in Game 7, not tie it at 2-2

Ek has a knack for overstating things. i'm sure this is causing a blip in Columbus but i was in Ohio in February and i can promise you that no one outside of Columbus cares about hockey.

Well if you were in Ohio in February then you should have said something! All I am saying is this game mattered towards building something bigger.

This was the first ever home playoff win. Come from behind. In OT. I don't think it's so outlandish to think people would remember this one for years to come.

Thank you. There are games I still remember, playoff games I attended that weren't the first win for the franchise, but were dramatic comebacks or OT victories. that I still talk about.

Going to be tough for pitsburgh to "retool" this roster this summer. Malkin starts making 9.5 next year, letang starts making 7.6 both very long term.
The entire top 6 has no trade clauses, along with 1/3 of their defence. I think if they lose this series DB (coach) gets fired.

It seems you, the troll now. More than just me pointed out your more than over the top article in the comments. And a threat of a delete or bann? You show that even without attempt to troll, you have become an internet victim, now guilty of crying and "losing the game". Thank you, for turning this into more of a laugh for me, sport.

No where in there did he give a "threat of a delete or bann." You need to quit pumping the gas on the troll mobile, as well. Some people will remember this game, especially people who attended the first Columbus playoff victory in their own backyard.

I disagree with the headline of the blog. Winnng Game 4 to tie the series 2-2 is great and all, but I can't remember specific playoff games except Game 6 vs Colorado in 2003 when the Wild won on Richard Park's OT goal to force Game 7 and Game 6 in Minnesota when the Wild rocked Vancouver, again in 2003, to force another Game 7. Of course, I also remember watching both Game 7's on TV. So, I suspect that if Columbus wins the series, this game may not be the one that people remember for a long time.

This one kind of reminds me 97 Oilers game 7 against Dallas. Sure, that was a series winner, but it was huge for Oiler fans. This coming from a team with 5 Stanley cups in the previous 15 years. Big moment for Columbus.
