100% How does one not root for a giant killer. This is the kind of series that sells seasons tickets. Great Job CBJ.

Pens win the next game 6-1 and then win game 6. It was a cute comeback, feel good and all, but no chance they win another game.

That kind of win is huge and I am predicting an upset

Really EK?

If CLB manages to win and craps the bed next round will it really be an epic tale?

Somehow I think in a few years it will just be lost amongst the other playoff years.

Unless by some chance they make it to the cup or conference finals.... with Bob in net I don't see it happening. Bob has been far worse than Fleury about goals he shoulda had.

being a fan of the leafs it's tough to criticize any team or franchise but there is definitely things wrong in Pittsburgh other than Fleury being a sieve. That coach must go. Maybe time to move Gino.... I don't know but too much talent to do what they do.. Without even talking about last year scoring 2 goals in 4 games debacle

Fleury is just one of those guys who doesnt pick it up in the playoffs a-la Lundqvist, Rask, Miller. He is more in the Price and Byzgalov tier of playoff performers
- GardinerExpress

What the heck does this post even mean? Rask was in the cup last year with a .940 sv percentage going into the final round...and Price is a lot better than Bryzgalov in playoffs and other dire situations like back to back shutouts to win the gold for Canada this year. The post you made really just doesnt work lol.

Who doesn't like BJ's? Thanks to Doug McLean they got to wait an extra long time for a playoff win at home, and thanks to MA Fleury the choke master they got that win. Wooo

Really good teams have a window of opportunity. It stays open for about five years. During that period they are an elite team capable of winning every game, every series and, of course the Stanley Cup. But it is apparant to everyone when that window closes on an elite team. We understand major changes will be needed in the core structure of the team if they want to return to being an elite challenger. This year the window closed for LA and Vancouver.

But, perhaps, Pittsburgh needs to be added to the list. They do not frighten the Blue Jackets or anyone else. Last year they were destroyed by Boston. Their grand downward slide began when the Flyers and Giroux came back on them a few playoffs back. This team is no longer a serious contender.

Slightly defensive and touchy on this subject? Do you really want to have a conversation trying to defend Fleury because he does not suck as much as Bob. Oh my, it seems so entirely disturbing.

If Malkin is dealt there will be a goalie coming back. I assume it would be either a top 5 goalie (eg Quick) or a top rated prospect (Gibson or Lehner). Reimer could not be part of the story, Bernier could.

After reading this article, I would hope the Pens win in 6, with the next two games being utter blowouts. Holy crap Eklund, you are acting like this was a 2 out grand slam in the world series to win 4-3, not a 3-0 comeback in the first round of a playoffs with two free goals given via 5-3 and a horrid empty net to tie.

Had this been in game 7, or at least to win the series, sure, make it a spectacle, but its not, so grow up. This was a laughable read, and a loss of credibility to you as a writer.

Yeah it's too bad Price didn't pick it up and they aren't gonna be moving on to the 2nd round. Getting swept by Tampa was embarassing for Price I'm sure.

I don't think Shanahan is going to let the Leafs get ripped off THAT badly! If Pitt adds in a pick maybe...

There's some pretty bad hockey being played in this series. Neither team can play defence.

Depends on which couch you were sitting on. In no way from my couch was this a great night.

Disgusting. Shameful. What should have been a showcase team, showcase talent for years and years has come to this. The epic battles of Pens vs Hawks, Pens vs Caps never come to pass... What a waste of talent. Between the Penguins and Capitals, I cant think of a more embarrassing waste of rich talent than I have seen the past 5 seasons. Those two organizations--and especially the players involved in the epic underachieving--should be utterly embarrassed.

So happy for the CBJ and their fans. What a game, what a story.

Hope they upset the Pens in 6!

well goaltending is certainly undermining Pittsburgh in the playoffs. even if Fleury was sharp for 59 1/2 minutes last night. Pittsburgh is almost starting to resemble the Lindros-era Flyers in that sense.

No it won't. One of the most memorable Oilers moments was Tood Marchants Ot winner in 97. Game 7 of the 1st round against Dallas. Avs kicked our asses in round 2. People still talk about that moment in Edmonton.

Pittburgh can acquire a decent goalie without giving up Malkin.

A) that's Edmonton, a hockey hotbed
B) that was to win a series in Game 7, not tie it at 2-2

Ek has a knack for overstating things. i'm sure this is causing a blip in Columbus but i was in Ohio in February and i can promise you that no one outside of Columbus cares about hockey.
