That's what I mean, its not as bleak as some are making it out to be...not unless Nonis decides to offer Clarkson deals to a few extra players this summer...which I guess is in the realm of possibility. - Colin Dambrauskas
If we are trading clarkson it will have to be his bad contract for another bad contract But i think we keep him for another year to see how he plays |

I know and it's because of all those (frank)ing idiot drama queen douche bags who pissed their pants about Phil going fishing are half the reason why players don't want to play for the Leafs. - As_I_See_It

I wouldn't call 213 lbs skinny, no wimpier then most of our team. If we didn't need him why did we trade a second rounder for Holland?
Besides, the point is if for some reason we didn't want him why did we give him away? In fact why did we insist on obtaining him in the first place from Boston if he was ' skinny and whimpy' - sparky
We can't be going through this again. He was given many chances in Toronto and he failed to earn a spot on the team. But, if Nonis had known we would lose 3 centres in the first 20 games then yes, he may have decided to keep him and not bring in Holland. But he did very little in Calgary, despite getting tons of ice time. Holland is a better prospect...by a mile. I'm not even sure you can still call Colborne a prospect any longer, he's just a fringe NHL'r at this point. |

Kessel should have been smarter than to say he's enjoying something else during the first round of the playoffs. Definitely people now think, myself included (I dont even care about the tweet its irrelevant) that Kessel isn't a guy to build a cup contending team around. His passion and heart arent in the right place.

it was either trade him for a pick or loose him through the waivers for nothing. - Leaffan8113

C'mon man, I'm a big leaf fan. We got as much work to do as they do...maybe even more if they start getting something out of their #1's |

Because he went fishing on days off? Thats absurd to make that conclusion based on what he does away from hockey in his spare time. Is he supposed to mope around the house until next season because they didnt make the playoffs

I don't know. I hated Kessel when he 1st got here - he never hustled -just as I thought he was passed all the lazy crap and I buy his jersey - he turns to butter the last 15 or so.
I'm hoping he was just tired - Olympics etc

I guess they were hoping they would be
We had Bozak/Bolland/McClement/Kadri
I think those are centres right?
So he either got traded or scooped up trying to clear waivers.
Plus he's not that good, I've liked Hollands game 2x better |

IMO, there as far away as they've ever been. We were 3rd in the East at the 70 game mark. As awful as the collapse was, we're not as far off as people seem to think. A new coach would be a huge and important first step. |
