y did leafs give Colborne away for nothing? - Jurco_28
It was either send to AHL through waivers and lose him for literally nothing, or give him a shot with Calgary. They werent very high on him and he struggled to prove his worth...despite his age. |

I like Gleason but I don't think he'd make LA - he'll he couldn't make it in Carolina this year. - Garnie
meh bad season, but he looked great when for the first segment when he came to the leafs, later till the end but the guy has character and will be put to good use, i dont care much for his contract as he brings some key qualities to the table. Id take him over liles any day, which is qualities are more relevant for this team than liles. |

And Brown's 47m deal starts NEXT year, while Richards still has 6 years at 5.75m left. Let LA deal with those albatross'...we have our own. - djamon
I guess.... Richards is one of my fav thats why but he has been on the decline and that decline has been pretty big |

Those are the players who I felt would be the most discussed...
I feel that there will be a few whose names will persist with respect to potential trade discussions over the summer. These such names are that of Nazem Kadri, David Clarkson, Jake Gardiner, and James Reimer.
This doesnt even take into account guys like Raymond, Bolland, Franson etc who may not even be re-signed. - Colin Dambrauskas
The guys in bold are all gone in the summer. I dont even care about bolland at this point, keep the capspace for something elite.
Reimer is gone, franson is traded, david clarkson back to NJ? Trade him for volchenkov ... Gards i think we will keep, Kadri if there is a better player to obtain in a package he will be gone |

Big strong pivots not big and skinny and wimpy and we had no room for him. - Garnie
I wouldn't call 213 lbs skinny, no wimpier then most of our team. If we didn't need him why did we trade a second rounder for Holland?
Besides, the point is if for some reason we didn't want him why did we give him away? In fact why did we insist on obtaining him in the first place from Boston if he was ' skinny and whimpy'

Btw folks, Leafs have 12 signed into next year and of those not signed, they have $21M to extend current/find new players.
Outside of Gardiner and Franson(if not traded) the only two "bigger" contracts will be Bolland and Kulemin...and Kulemin should fall around 3M. |

The Leafs are said to be ready to make significant changes in order to change the culture of the team. Trading away Reimer which is a given is not going to change much on the team. Basically starting with the same team (plus whoever we get for reamer) that just ended the season.
We have no cap money to do anything at free agency, and their crazy if they trade their first rounder away. Teams like Anaheim, Boston etc are teams who can afford trading first rounders, not team who miss the playoffs on a regular basis and light yrs from contending.
We need cap dollars and also something to send a message to the players. Possibly trading a guy like Lupul would be a start. - sparky
Our Cap situation is fine.

That's what I mean, its not as bleak as some are making it out to be...not unless Nonis decides to offer Clarkson deals to a few extra players this summer...which I guess is in the realm of possibility. |

Yes for sure, I like him too. A little slow and he also steps up from time to time and gets a sweet piece of (frank) all but hey........not sure what we are going to do. It will be an interesting summer. |

I know and it's because of all those (frank)ing idiot drama queen douche bags who pissed their pants about Phil going fishing are half the reason why players don't want to play for the Leafs. |

the Hope is that the Avs can get both of them signed for a combined cap hit under 13m a season. Wishful thinking but would be amazing - DDM-Coga
I don't think thats wishful thinking at all. Stastny publicly said he's willing to take a pay cut to stay in Denver...he doesn't want to leave plus his fiance/wife has her own business here. They are rooted here, he's not leaving unless he just gets completely low balled.
As for RoR, people here seem to forget that the Avs can retain his rights without giving him a qualifying offer. It's called club elected arbitration, which is used as an alternative to a QO, plus it only guarantees RoR 85% of his QO which would be 5.525. Now obviously that's less than ideal but it gives the Avs more time to negotiate a long term deal without having to pay him 6.5 for 1 year or losing to UFA this summer.
Regardless, most likely both will be staying in Colorado, they have more than enough cap space to re-sign everyone and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. However, it would not surprise me to see Parenteau moved and a compliance buyout used on Wilson |

I seriously want them to go crazy Maybe we can "stack" up on our defense. It would be sweet if Orpik falls to free agency... i was saying before if pens dont want to resign him, trade kulemins rights for his.. as the pens would want to sign kuli for sure |
