Someone there is getting moved...regardless of what Avs fans think. They aren't a Cap team, and they need to address their defense this summer. Looking at opportunities on other teams isn't grasping...it's prudent. You don't think other teams aren't looking at our roster and wondering who they can pick off cheaply? - djamon
He's not coming to Toronto then. |

i mean which guy did holland get signed on the cheap? - Dozzer
Holland signed a few great deals under the premise that "nobody makes more than Lidstrom" and how could players are against that? Holland set his table with Lidstrom's deal. Lidstrom wasn't a greedy player and probably also recognized that it would be a part of his legacy (who knows, it may have been sold to him that way as well?). It was only after NL retired that "big money" was handed out to Datsyuk at $7.5M until 2016 and I don't think there are many who would say that Pavel isn't worth that.
Cheaps deals:
- Datysuk: Mentioned above
- Zetterberg: Cap of ~$6M until 2021... That deal is only going to get better
- Krowall: Cap of ONLY $4.75M until 2018!
- Franzen: Cap of $3.95M until 2020
- Howard: Cap of $5.2M until 2018
All of those are cap friendly deals and excellent value for the players in question. |

Avs can be a cap team if they want to and all signs are pointing towarsd that, they have the resources to be with Kroenke (Owns Avs, Nuggets, St Louis Rams, Arsenal FC and married to one of the Walmart heiress). Now that one of the sons have invested interest in the team since he has joined as Team President, they long term big money extentions started.
We wont be near the bottom towards the cap floor anymore. |

We have cap space, we can pay their worth, we have Duchene, Landy, Varly, Johnson already signed to reasonable deails, we can qualifty ROR since we still own his rights, question mark is Stastny, he has been open about wanting to resign for a discount, Avs said they made an offer and are planning to talk more once the season is done.
We can resign both its not out of the question. - DDM-Coga
i never once said you couldnt
i just pointed out that ROR's qualifying offer is 6.5 million
some of your av fan brethren cant seem to accept it. |

He will get paid 6.5m next season salary wise, but I think an average cap hit of 6m over a long term deal is fair, he will be getting paid comfortably. |

zetterberg is at 6 million.. that puts him in the ballpark i am talking about
datsyuk's cap hit goes up to 7.5 next year as you mentioned.
my point is... ROR is already making 5.. its going to take more than half a mill to get him to walk from what is guaranteed to him.
my guess is you sign him for 5 years for 32.5million
its doable.. never once said it wasnt.

trust me.. his agent isnt interested in fair.. nor is the union members
if these guys start giving out discounts it undermines the rest of their union members
like i said.. 5 for 6.5 per. thats my guess |

He doesnt make more than Duchene or 1m more than Landy. He will get the same contract as Duchene. But if we have to keep him for that, 500k more a season, eff it you do it. The guy is too skilled not to, close to 30g/60pts, lead the league again in take aways, those guys dont grow on trees |

if they were to sign this summer.. they would be earning one hell of a lot more. |

I agree totally. And, after the year they have had, Paul Stastny wants to stay and win. |

Kroenke was cheap for awhile since he was busy with obtaining the majority shares in Arsenal and buying the Rams. WHen the Nuggets were doing so well, we were the 4th on hsi depth chart. But now with the Nuggets being crappy again, and his deals down with Rams and Arsenal he has an invested interest again in the Avs |

all he has to do is wait til July 1 and he gets 6.5
the avs would be foolish not to pay it too. go long terms at that.. the kid will get better and by the end of the deal he'd be a huge bargain
i wouldnt be shocked if the avs offered him 6.5 per over 8 years.. not one bit

At the end of the day, everyone wanted out of Colorado last year. They were like the Leafs, losing year after year.
Now after the draft of MacKinnon, and the year that has followed, they all want to stay.
So, they will all sign, all make big money and win together. MY opinion only. |
