The old Avs management/ownership didn't help any either. - martok2309
yup sherman low balled him bc he didnt have a budget to work with. Kroenke finally opening the wallet, having roy and sakic on board, its different now.
It was ROR's dad who was barking in the media about having his son being paid for what he is worth skill wise and for his character intangibles. And he will be, no doubts there |

Edit:
Colorado has several contracts which they will need to address over the summer months, and given that Paul Stastny, Jamie McGinn, Tyson Barrie, and Stefan Elliott make that list, add to the fact that Stastny has been doing very well with Landeskog this year, they may have some reservations about offering top dollar to O’Reilly in order to sign him long-term. - Colin_Dambrauskas
Damaged goods.
I'd be willing to maybe (maybe!) trade D'Amigo for him... |

Mike Richards looks done. If we're dreaming about players to target can we please remove that plug from the list? |

Ryan O'Reilly isn't going anywhere. and if he did, he would cost an absolute fortune to acquire. - DoubleDown
Stastny + Landeskog have been playing some fine hockey together...Avs currently have Duchene, O'Reilly, MacKinnon, Stastny, Talbot, Mitchell down the middle...not a bad problem to have, but allows them to move one of the top guys to improve elsewhere. |

Why is it so bad for a player to want to maximize earnings? - Atomic Wedgie
nothing at all. thats why i think the people who think he will sign for less are being a little bit naive.
this kid has held out once already.
he isnt about to take less than whats guaranteed. |

Why do you all of a sudden think Carlyle is safe? Because he wasn't fired 24 hours after the season ended? Makes no sense. - djamon
Who would you take Bylsma or Trots? If pens lose, the possibility of him being fired is a good one |

are you sure about that? IT was his dad who was causing the mess...Roy, Sakic and ROR's camp have all met regarding this. One of the first things Roy looked into coming into the Organization, and both parties agreed to pick up contract talks after the season. - DDM-Coga
well you guys go on believing hat stastny will take a pay cut and O'reilly will take less than whats guaranteed to him
all because they love playing for the Avs so much
sorry.. not buying it. |

I like to read between the lines...many/most of the comments would lead one to believe that his job will be fully assessed next season. |

Pffft...McClement to improve the Ducks PK and Franson&Ranger to replace Robidas.
I guess we can toss in 5th 6th and 7th round picks... |

Revenues in the NHL are getting ready to break open. He ain't taking a 6/33m deal now. Avs fans are dreaming. |

Duchene and O'Reilly have been playing some great hockey together as well. He looks more comfortable on the Wing vs being a Centre. I dont think he will be playing much Centre.
Since Dutch went down and ROR had to move back to C with PAP and McGinn, he hasnt been able to produce any offence, |

Theres no point in moving those guys. Their top 6 is set for the future. The only guys id move that are big salary is parenteau, wilson, and hedja or use a buyout for one of them (compliance) |

I can see your point.
He may just have a VERY short leash next season and that wouldn't surprise me. I may not like it and prefer him gone now but it's possible. |

Three months ago I would have been happy with either, but the poopty way the Pens are playing has me worried about Bylsma. And Nashville fans don't seem all that broken up about Trots getting canned...has me a little worried.
I'm really not sure about either of them at this point. I don't mind Boucher. |

It has also given Roy a lot of versatile players and he loves versatile players. O'Reilly and Duchene working together also gives him a lot of help on defense, which the Avs desperately need, given their players ON defense. |

Fair enough. I was worried someone had come out and said he was safe. His dismissal is the first order of business, IMO. THEN you look to tweak the roster. |

Someone there is getting moved...regardless of what Avs fans think. They aren't a Cap team, and they need to address their defense this summer. Looking at opportunities on other teams isn't grasping...it's prudent. You don't think other teams aren't looking at our roster and wondering who they can pick off cheaply? |

We have cap space, we can pay their worth, we have Duchene, Landy, Varly, Johnson already signed to reasonable deails, we can qualifty ROR since we still own his rights, question mark is Stastny, he has been open about wanting to resign for a discount, Avs said they made an offer and are planning to talk more once the season is done.
We can resign both its not out of the question. |
