I know a lot of the Leaf situation. I am very close to present day and past day players and some of the execs. So I have to be careful with what I post.
Funnily enough, on the internet there is a high amount of disbelief, so in some ways I am safe.
All I will say is that Nonis was ordered right after game seven against the Bruins, to get rid of Phaneuf, get an NHL goaltender, and get tougher, and try to get a first line center.
Apparently, they fell back in love with Phaneuf and forgave him for getting tossed out of the crease like a girl, and resigned him. Big mistake in my book, I think, the guy takes 25 games off a year, that is my opinion.
In terms of Kadri? His teammates don't like him and the coaches cannot stand him. Its well known, and they have never received an offer of any consequence for him. His rep around the NHL is solidly, cancer in the dressing room.
Reimer? I have never liked him, and the team, the players, management and owners came to the same conclusion as I did over time. His personality won them over and it was the same thing with Luke Schenn, another guy I saw as a no talent, but everyone fell in love with him. Who was I to argue?
Ryan O'Reilly? I saw him play for two periods in junior and was sitting beside one of the top Leafs scouts and said although this kid has no breakaway speed, his stickhandling and mojo on the ice is top five pick. If you get a chance to pick him, grab him. I predicted thought that his lack of open ice speed would drop him and I was right. His stickhandling is off the dial, I wish the Leafs had picked him over Kadri, who I have zero respect for.
David Clarkson? Mystery in a sense, he played very well for New Jersey, Edmonton wanted him even more than we did and offered more money. Obviously its at this point, a disaster, one that could easily get Nonis fired.
Oh by the way, for the record, Steen told Wilson to take a hike and f... off, and that is why he is tearing it up in St. Louis. - organicsteroid
So what your telling me is your close to the Leafs and you go to hockeybuzz to spread inside info about the team? Seems reasonable to me. |

The Leafs have never built from the ground up really. Its always been patch jobs. Imagine if Burke could actually tell a good goalie from a bad one and had realized that the team he was inheriting was actually the worst or second worst team in the league and had Seguin as his number one center?
