If there was ever a time when the hockey gods decided to intervene, it was last night after Carcillo got mugged and then given a bullpoop call for one of the best defensive plays I've seen in recent memory.
Now crush the flyers, then the Pens, then the Bruins on your way to the finals.
this team is way better than it has been in recent years, with Nash/Stepan and the Richards/St Louis combos clicking. - TommyDeVito
The Rangers are quietly well balanced up front and on the blueline. |

No... Watch the video again, Hagelin drops his gloves and engages in the scrum and fight. This talk of Voracek jumping him or coming out of nowhere to fight him is ridiculous lol, what game were you guys watching? They BOTH should have been given fighting majors and Hagelin should have been kicked out. - Flyers_V88
You should stop watching the game and the replays while taking crack |

I am proud of how my affinity for the St Louis trade never lessened, despite it all.
He was brought in here for the playoffs; this season, next season and likely beyond. - MidnightMarauder
Only think i kept getting annoyed at was the constant daily point total between the 2. Still like that trade. Thought both the Klein trade and this one made our team better now. Which is the point since Hank isnt getting any younger. |

The more I watch him play, the more I realize how much of a genius Sather can actually be. That deal is turning out to be insane, especially with how well MDZ played in Nash |

Haglin dropped his gloves first. Regardless of the fact that Voracek was mugging him already there is never going to be a case where the player who drops his gloves first doesn't go to the box. An extra 2 on Jake with matching 5 min for fighting would have been the correct call.
Not 100% sure of the jersey rule. It carries a game misconduct without any penalty? Got sauce on the rule? - vipeviper
So basically we should send out Carcillo to jump Giroux and just be sure he keeps his gloves on while doing so and if Giroux drops his glvoes to defend himself thats on him, he gets a fighting major and Carcillo 2 min for roughing as he didn't drop them.
And oh yea, if Giroux doesn't have the jersey tied down during the mugging he gets thrown out. I (frank)ing LOVE that strategy, let's do it. |

The window to win, or attempt to win it all, is about as long as Hank is still an elite goalie.
Who knows who replaces him but that is much later down the line. Try to win one or more while he is still considered among the best in the world. |

Good win for you guys, and obviously game 4 is a must-win for the Flyers. Hopefully Mason regains his form and we have a best-of-three series to look forward to.
Also, the league SHOULD take a look at the Read hit on Carcillo. My feeling is that it was more accidental than deliberate, as Read isn't that type of player. A suspension is unlikely, in my opinion, but it wouldn't surprise me if Read was fined.
I'd also add that a lot of comments about how Flyer fans thought Carcillo was faking it stem from his 3 years in Philly. The guy was known (in his time here) to act like he was dead one minute after a hit, and then spring to life the next. (Hartnell is the same way). Although it's not fair, that kind of reputation might have gotten him that phantom 2 minute hooking penalty a bit later, as the refs might have felt he was trying to milk the Read hit for all it's worth.
Nevertheless, Carcillo brought that spunk and energy that you guys needed. And his goal and subsequent celebration were an instant classic in Rangers playoff history.
The bottom line is that if the Flyers can't find a way to get more shots through on Lundqvist this will be a short series. Also, something tells me that we're due for an OT game.

Agree Read is not that type of player, was actually shocked when they showed it was him on the replay, but that was definitely intentional. Puck was no where near Carcillo, and he turns his shoulder into his head.

The Klein trade is so lopsided there aren't enough terms in the thesaurus to properly described how much so.
St. Louis will hopefully cost the team two first round picks and a player that is nowhere near the worth he and his jolly agent thought he was.
I loved the trade when it happened; I love it on April 23, 2014. |

lol, you're an idiot man. Watch the video again, Hagelin even drops his gloves first. (frank)ing retard. - Flyers_V88
Apparently jimmy, posting the video is the only way to shut this dude up. Vorachek did what Crosby did to Brett Mclean . Jumped him right off the faceoff. Hagelin wasn't engaging until after being jumped. |

I remembered Klein from his highlight reel goal, against the Wings, in the 2012 Playoffs.
I was just so relieved Del Zotto was gone, honestly, I would have been happy if they only got a draft pick for him.
Getting an actual NHL player in return, and an actual good player, was just a score. |

intentional? yeah ... intentional to the head? I'm not so sure. If you look at the video you can see Carcillo look directly at Read just before the hit (50 second mark). I think Read anticipated - and braced himself for - some contact with Carcillo's chest, but Carcillo turned slightly at the last split second.

Too early to tell IMO. It is a lopsided 2014 trade for sure. But overall? Gotta see if DZ can be that player I and others thought he'd be down the line. |

Agree to disagree, i thought the video showed Carcillo skating to go behind Read and Read shooting out his shoulder to the head. But I guess if Read thought Carcillo was going to hit him you would see it that way. I'm a Ranger fan so that was intentional. |

exactly ... when I played I knew lots of guys who made more contact while heading back to the bench then they did during their shift.
