Totally...and also have to remember that the Selke is a bit of a popularity contest...

I like Plekanec as much as the next guy, but you have to admit that the players named ahead of him are also much better players...at least his equal defensively and far better offensively.

No, I don't.

You are right...you don't have to...you can be a wiener and continue to argue Plekanec is better...

Good.

So you're saying that shift in player use happened in the 90's?

Glad we agree!

1983-84 Edmonton Oilers, 36 Shorthanded Goals
No team in NHL history did more damage with a man in the box than the 1983-84 Oilers. Gretzky led the shorthanded assault, setting a then NHL record with 12 shorthanded goals. Mario Lemieux would break the record five years later, scoring 13 shorthanded goals for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1988-89 to establish the current mark.

Jari Kurri, Gretzky’s favorite triggerman, finished second on the club with five shorties, while Mark Messier and Glenn Anderson recorded four each. All told, 12 different Oilers notched a shorthanded tally.

True.

But come on...they are still better than Plek...who had been my favorite hab for a few years (before Gallagher came into my life )...

I'm surprised the voters didn't take this into account.
