regardless of the award's description, it's always awarded to the best 2-way centre. Plekanec is an outstanding defensive player. but as a 2-way player, he's well behind those guys.

But back in the day, players like Kopitar weren't killing penalties. As well as putting up 70pts.

Totally...and also have to remember that the Selke is a bit of a popularity contest...

I like Plekanec as much as the next guy, but you have to admit that the players named ahead of him are also much better players...at least his equal defensively and far better offensively.
