I think this is actually what Maclean was saying. It's a question of perception not reality. He was saying the league could have avoided the perception. Not the reality of a biased ref.

I'm sorry that made timbits cry

Looked really shaky at the end of the 3rd. Was laughing with the ref when a shot went off the cross bar.

Also, go Hawks.

Fleury is just one of those guys who doesnt pick it up in the playoffs a-la Lundqvist, Rask, Miller. He is more in the Price and Byzgalov tier of playoff performers

Right, you'd never complain if a Boston ref made a game changing call in Boston against the Habs. Face it, he was talking about the league's image and the perception of the fans in OTHER markets.

Nobody knows or gives a single (frank) where the refs comes from, except when it's a Francophone, because they're easy to tell apart with their last name.

If it would have been Dave Jackson or Eric Furlatt reffing the game that night, there would have been no controversy. The call would still have been labeled as a questionable one, but nobody would have doubted the integrity of the refs. It's as stupid as that.

Now don't tell me that's not discrimination.
