I blame Peter Forsberg. If he hadn't taken so much issue with Canadian refs reffing the gold medal game, people would still be smart enough to realize that a refs entire integrity is calling the game fairly.

It's like saying Crosby plays a certain way for the Pens to show favourtism to his boyhood love for the Habs. Just as ridiculous.

Exactly...saying that officiating should be different in the playoffs is mind boggling. We all know it is, and we all know it's a problem, but to say it should take a player beheading another to call a penalty is just atrocious.

As for the rest, I guess we should also prevent Ontarian refs from working Toronto and Ottawa games, and so on...or is that just a french thing?

If there were no bad calls made ever in any other type of circumstance involving the 29 other teams, maybe that argument would have legs but the truth is, every team gets hosed over the course of a season/playoff run. The game is fast and calls need to be made in a split second, without the various camera angles and super slo mo. Until a system is developed that will take the human element out of officiating, this argument will never end.

I'm not sure whats dumber. Ron McLean's comment or everyone making it seem like he said something else. Can someone play the clip where he says there's an issue with French refs? Because it's not what he said.
