One of these days, I'll run into you poor college students at a Flyers HB thing and make sure you're properly beered up.

No, don't be sad.

You are one of the few people that know how to laugh when the Flyers are going bad. DON'T CHANGE NOW!

- johndewar

The Flyers don't lose. You must have them confused with some lesser team.

I'm not due to go to any playoff games until Round 2.

If the Flyers make it that far, I'll set something up for HB folk if they want to enjoy a malt beverage or 5.

This feels like one of my Steve Mason rants.

National hockey writers love giving Steve Mason poop without actually providing context to his play.

MAF is likely a victim of that to an extent.

exactly. like i keep saying. goalies are impossible to judge without watching them. look at guys that finish with some of the better save percentages. whoever plays in phx, the wild, nashville. yeah they may be decent goalies, but theyre largely stopping quantities of harmless shots from the perimeter. not many 2 on 1 rushes, or guys just tapping in rebounds. even look at hank. not saying hes not a stud. he is. but seldom does a guy not get boxed out on the PK, or a rebound swept away, or guys backchecking to stop a 2 on 1. fleury has NEVER had that throughout his career.

however, this newish (last 3 years or so, granted not new, but it wasnt his whole career) thing cant be viewed at simply via the stats either. his stats the last 2 games are pretty good when viewed simply in a vacuum. it goes beyond numbers. not one person in black and gold thought that once he gave up that braincramp at the end, he wasnt going to surrender an absurdly bad goal to lose the game because he was fried.

and for THAT reason. it is time to move on.

it makes perfect sense haha. its alarming that just when you have the most going on and need to be your best and grind out a little longer, you suddenly cannot be bothered to care, despite working all year for a grade that will be decided in 4 hours.

man, sounds eerily similar to MAF.

My finals are late and in about 2 weeks so I havent hit the same level you guys are at. Ive been cranking out research for one of my final papers though. I took a nice like 4 hour nap in the library covered by a stack of books. Good luck to you and GIG

Patrick Kane scores coming down the wing on the same rush Giroux had last night. He uses his player driving the net as a screen. Giroux pulls up and does I dont know what. His head needs to get out of his ass.

that would be lovely. hopefully youre not of the same mentality as the government, and that once youre done the 4 years of undergrad and are crazy enough to pursue it further, they basically say welp good luck and (frank) off!

Thats so true. Its easy to write about how Flyers goaltending has always sucked since Hextall and will always suck from now until the end of time. I think one of the main culprits is PuckDaddy. God I hate that site.

I remember what you knuckleheads are going through. I'm not that old, but if the Flyers make it to Round 2, I'll make sure Canadian ginger ale is available to those poor college HB types that can't afford it.

im not saying this is strictly a flyers fan thing, admittedly its largely properly because ive always lived in Philly, but this is something thats annoyed me to no end with your average fan who knows jackpoop about the game. even while watching the game, theyll judge a goalie solely off the stats, and just call for his head and oh he sucks and this and that. but most of them dont notice the poorly executed pinch by defender X or the utter lack of backcheck by player Y that lead to a delicious 2 on 1 the other way. they just see the end result of goal, and say well he was the last one involved, so he must suck.

It really is. The thing that drives me the craziest about it is that it works. Those pieces on the Flyers goaltending get more comments and hits than a lot of well written analytical blogs. Try reading the comments section on one of those sometime. Its enough to blow your brains out.

The preponderance of my career has been with Wall Street firms, so doing poop for free is not in my lingo.

I went to the last playoff game and I had poopty time because of some stupid fans who had several arguments similar to the one you laid out. Me and my friend sat between a loud, drunk, obnoxious flyers fan (the kind that yells SHOOT) and a loud, drunk, obnoxious rangers fan wearing a nash jersey. Both knew nothing about hockey but spent most of the game arguing over things and just yelling stupid stuff. Only good thing I enjoyed was the rangers fan got ejected

if not for jagr and these kinds of people, who knows. i might have turned out to be a flyers fan
like i said, im sure douche baggery isnt limited to flyers fans. most people are just inherently douche bags, and the passion for things just gives it an outlet to show. If i had to deal with a lot of pens fans that are around now when i was younger and just getting introduced to the game, i dont know if i wouldve liked them very much either.
