The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

- Pixote Andolini[b]same statement for the PP same tired moves....every bloody time...if I know its coming....Im sure the Rangers might have an idea.

Claude Giroux

Giroux is making it easy for them to check him....he simply wont shoot the puck...between him and Timo, they are killing the PPs.
[
b]Officiating

It took the officials half the game to wake up. Ray Emery

Im sure Emery would want 3 of the 4 back....

Hartnell couldn't hit the ocean from the dock last night....always the effort though.

Would love to see Jake on the PK.

Jake doesnt like to block shots...tough to play PK when you dont get in front of the puck.

Hartnell is good when about 5 to 10 feet in front of the net but a playmaker he is not. So if you get a better puck handler on the top line it may create better scoring chances because the puck is not getting to hartnell where can can be effictive. Putting Hatnell on the Coutz line may create a stronger forecheck than it does with the smaller Akeson.
- RobFlyers#1

They already have 2 players on that line who are good playmakers, in Giroux and Voracek. I don't see them needing a 3rd. Hartnell gives them a good player in the corners on the forecheck.

well, that sucked for being my first playoff game.....

there were a couple times Giroux had a lane and didn't take it - to me, they are trying to hard to make the perfect play. They need to shoot at sticks or back boards to get rebounds.......a straight shot on Hank is going to get blocked.

I think they played well, the Power Play wasn't great at all - but it wasn't as bad as teh score indicated.

Carcillo scoring really hurt.

I understand that nobody wants to blame Emery, the point is that a good goalie may stop that shot. May have kept the Flyers in that game. In a defensive series like this one. You need better than average goaltending and IMO the Flyers havent recieved that to this point. We are lucky to be only down 1 game because of that fact.
- GOA88

I don't think they received the goaltending they needed last night. But that was not one of the goals I have a problem with. I think that was a perfect shot.

Don't get too down remember this is a Flyers vs. Rangers series so it's going to 7 games. Obviously the winner will be a toss up. Bigger concern will be whoever moves on has just gone through a pretty physical 7 games.

I would agree that Emery did not play a great game. But that Girardi shot had eyes. Right over the shoulder into a small open part of the net. Perfectly placed. Can't blame Emery on that one.
- MJL

I thought Emery should have had that goal but upon further review I did realize it was a tough stop. The first goal was just horrible and playing in front of a pumped crowd in your first playoff home game that is a must stop. Emery is what he is, and we know if there is any chance in the series it has to start with Mason in the pipes.

The ex-Flyers scoring against them at this point is comical. It's every game, doesn't matter the opponent, or player. Ridiculous.

That first goal last night was brutal. Set the tone for the game. A shot going well wide of the net goes off Emery's glove and the rebound is put in.

It seems like this team plays better with adversity, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them play a very solid game 4 and win. Will that be enough to win the series though? Who knows.

Voracek is more of shooter on that line and Giroux can do more than set goals up see the 28 goals produced this season. This line is not producing and the flyers are losing so how will it hurt to change things up?

Yea, I'm expecting them to play well in game 4 with their backs to the wall. Obviously we all wish it didn't have to come to that for them to play well but... it seems like it does for now

Im sure Emery would think he should of had that one as well....good shot, but no screen or deflection...saw it all the way in....tough time to not come up large....Regardless Emery had to be better last night...but to be fair there are a lot of players who need to play better.

Voracek and Giroux are both more playmaker then shooters. I'm not against switching things up. I just don't think Akeson is the right player. That 3rd player on that line needs to be a guy who is going to go hard to the corners and hard to the net.

they need to play like they are down in the series 3-0 every game! It's crazy how well they play when behind in a series.

Berube ...obviously...seemed married to that line....even when they struggled for period in the season he was reluctant to make changes....don't hold your breath to see changes now.

There was a bunch of traffic in front of Emery on the Girardi goal. I think you can tell by his reaction that he didn't see it until late.

It was reported yesterday by a few sources ("sauces" if you're from NY) that he was shut down indefinitely.

Based on measured human reaction time, I wonder how hard a shot needs to be to just outright beat any goalie from that far away if a Dman really lays into one. I'm pretty forgiving on those total rockets into the corner, because I'd almost bet there's physically not much that can be done about those. Maybe I'm actually cutting a goalie too much slack though, I don't know.

I have a bigger problem with shots that slide between legs because the goalie's stick just isn't positioned right for no reason.
