I agree. My only concern is that he has had concussion issues in this year and in the past.

So would you be comfortable paying Macdonald 6 million a year for 5-6 years with a NMC?

He got no such clause in his contract

Seems like Toronto needs a center. But I doubt they'd give up Gardiner.
- MJL

Honestly I believe that Gardiner is overhyped. Im not sure exactly why but everytime Ive seen him play I havent been that impressed. He's too much of a liability in his own zone and I dont see him as a player that will develop a better all around game.

I think that was his point. That it might have been included if he was signed in free agency.

Maybe or maybe not we will never know, the fact he got what he got might be that clause without having it.

Any chance we could pry Voynov off of the Kings if they are looking to shake things up in the offseason? Im not really sure what their team needs are.

B Schenn, any of the young defenseman, draft picks. In combination of course.
- MJL

It will take all of that. A Pronger like package

For subban it will be something like

B schenn, morin or ghost, 2 1sts

Or

Couturier, hagg, 1st

To get talks started. There is no other flyer, pick, prospect not mames giroux that you can put in cooters place. That's what I'm getting at

Laughton would have high value around the League as a trade chip.

Interesting. Im not sure money would work out though. My two initial thoughts are that I would probably pair Josi and Coburn together and move Streit down and that Vrbata isnt that likely to leave Phoenix. From all reports ive read said he is happy there and wants to stay.

Not any more than B schenn

I honestly am willing to ride it out another year. Maybe try and sign Boyle, and let prospects develop another year

I'm not in the camp where we need to make a hasty decision that again sees a boatload of prospects leave Bc were worried about wasting girouxs prime years

They're nasty. Can't stand em. I'd rather have a pear or a cappuccino loaded with sugar, at least then I'd receive the same sugar rush without spending 15 minutes picking rubbery candy goo out of my molars.

I agree. B. Schenn deserves another year of development. Hopefully the team will just pick whether he is a left winger or a center and stick with it. He should be available for a trade in an equal deal that helps improve our areas of weakness but holmgren shouldnt try to force something if nothing is there. So far he has done well at resisting the urge to trade him.

Not sure why Laughton having more value then B Schenn matters. None of the individual players the Flyers have that might be considered trade chips are enough alone to get the defenseman they need. It's going to be a combination deal.
Boyle is going to want a multi year deal most likely. And he's not the kind of player they need in my opinion. And honestly, any of the young defense prospects are more then another year away, from being the kind of player the Flyers need on defense. They may come up and contribute a lot sooner. But to be top players, 3-5 years away most likely, if at all.

Will be interesting to me to see if Holmgren gets any flack for giving up a 2nd and 3rd (I believe) for Macdonald.

When he essentially/probably could have had him for the same contract as now in FA.

If they manage to go a bit deeper its worth it, but now? We shall see.

- flyer_nutter

yah it'll be super interesting as he never gets any flack around here

What play/game/goal are you guys talking about where Timonen is complaining to the officials?

I'm a little surprised Tyler Johnson is a Calder finalist over Maata, Lindholm or Krug.

What other piece will be enough to frontline a trade to bring in a young top pairing type?

Voracek is too unique of a skill for us to give up.
We are not trading giroux
Simmonds not enough
??

- Just5

I'd also describe Simmonds as too unique of a skill to give up. It's hard to find another player that brings the mix that he does. I don't think Bobby Ryan or Evander Kane match his physicality or work levels.
