We don't have money or assets to do all that.
- Flyersgod

Then you have to hope that Akeson grabs that 3RW role by the throat, Laughton does the same on the fourth line, and spend whatever cash you have left to fill the 2LW spot

Or they could flip Laughton for the 2LW-type player, something like that

I agree: They might not be able to address it all. But they should be able to address some

Don't see any way they get that guy next season without giving up a big part of that good young forward corps and a 1st or 2.

Agreed. It will take time. Hopefully, if Timonen retires, they can sign a guy like Niskanen or Stralman and, if they can move out VL, at least add another 2 way winger and 4th liner.

I'm really hoping they draft a forward with the 17th pick. With their track record at drafting forwards in the 1st, hopefully that guy is your sniper by 16-17.

- BiggE

After grabbing Morin I realized I'd rather them draft forwards only in the first round. They gamble on defense just because they can. They tell us they take the best available player... Well Morin wasn't the best available.

I think they're more like 1 player away and that player is a #1 defenseman. I think the forwards are going to be pretty good moving forward.
- PhillySportsGuy

a #1 dman (cough, weber, cough) would be one of these for sure and would make a big difference. i want to some slippery skill guys on the wing, a euro type i think. for me, we're more than a #1 dman away.

I gave up hoping about the Flyers. Too consuming. Same story different decade

If he manages to score a goal or two this series... he'll be a Flyer for sure.

But, I think they are so consistently inconsistent because they just aren't good enough to be anything else.
The Rangers are a SLIGHTLY better team than the flyers, IMHO, just slightly. Better Dmen, far better goalie, forwards are probably a wash.

- Briere

I think that consistency is part of the evolution of a team. I just think they need to take that step at some point. Along with some tweaking of the roster.

Niskanen's going to be effing expensive, but I won't lie: I'd inquire about Stralman, see what he's wanting

That would be great. But there is no way that a 172 lbs rookie Dman is going to be a #1 guy. If he was able to contribute on the 3rd pair and QB a pp unit next season, that would be pretty impressive.

Who the best player available is, is subjective. In the Flyers view, he was.

I never have gotten to that point -- I know that they do whatever they can to win, and while I want them to win the effing thing, the only other thing that matters is having an owner who is totally committed to trying

I agree. If any of the young D men in the system are going to give the Flyers what they need, it's a number of years away. There is no doubt in my mind that the Flyers are going to attempt to trade for a defenseman in the off season.

TBH, I think the Penguins are gonna try to move some salary out of there to keep Niskanen -- I think we're gonna hear whispers about Malkin and Letang before free agency starts

Flyers aren't moving Vinny. It's not how they roll.

I can see us trading him and than him getting back to his old self and put up70 pts a year.

Flyers don't know how to use what they have. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rinaldo play goalie next year at this point.

What's to stop Vinny from (very quietly) asking out?

that must be from the flyers playbook, sign players long term and then trade them before the deal kicks in

Flyers need to decide in the off season what they're going to do with Lecavalier. If they're not going to use him as a Center on a scoring line, they should trade him.

Never mind. Just saw he can play in Memorial Cup

Would you guys do Coots, hagg, 1st for subban?

In Letang's case, I don't know that they ever loved that term and number to begin with

If they don't win it all...you gotta think that Shero will have seen enough. You can't bring back Fleury AND Malkin AND Letang AND let Niskanen walk for nothing -- the salaries just don't make sense, with Crosby and Neal and Kunitz and Dupuis coming back
