doubt we get that pick anyway I think callahan is staying in tampa
- todd1a

We get that pick regardless. The picks conditional on re-signing are in 2015. Tampa would give NYR a 2nd while NYR would give Tampa a 7th. TB gets either New York's first or second this year, depending on if NYR reaches the conference final. And TB gets New York's 2015 first.

There's a lot of talk about how the refs blew the game for the Lightning in the last 2 minutes... But there doesn't seem to be anyone mentioning how Stamkos throws a temper tantrum, punches Emelin in the face for no reason and gets away with it.
- Distrad

Emelin kinda instigated as he skated Stamkos down after the penalty talking that's probably why he didn't get more penalties for hitting Emelin... Stamkos is a underrated fighter... he can hold his own but no one dares fight him because he is a SUPERSTAR and I an fine with that we need him on ice not with a broke jaw.

I'd rather have the 2015 first round pick a much better draft!

We get that one regardless.

What happens this season has no impact on that pick.

You get that pick either way. The condition if they reach the Finals is between the 2014 1st and 2nd. Callahan re-signing means you give them a 2015 2nd and you get a 7th.

Stevie Y. Did an amazing job getting the return he did with St. Louis being so public and essentially handcuffing the Lightning at the deadline.

Absolutely! I was shocked at the return he managed to get. Can't believe Sather coughed up the 2015 first when Yzerman had no leverage whatsoever.

I think Stevie said I can and will keep St Louis if the price isn't right and Sather was kinda handcuffed on Callahan as well when their deal fell apart.

I think the Rags were scared of losing Callahan for nothing, and even if they were giving up more than they'd like to for St. Louis, atleast they gave themselves an out with the fans.

Rumor has it they had a second deal ready to go with the San Jose Sharks if the TB one fell apart.

Plenty of teams would have paid for Callahan. The Lightning were forced to deal with one on St. Louis.

I guess it must be Sather unable to resist the lure of yet another star acquisition lol.

I don't think he stays. Al Montoya would be my target for backup.

The refs really put the whistles in their backpocket, until the Paquette penalty.

And on that aspect, Kudos to Cooper for not being too hard on the kid.

We can certainly question why he sent him out with 2 minutes left, but at least he doesn't blame the kid for his own error.

Yeah, most of the time throught the series I found Cooper's passive-aggressive nature in interviews rather grating. However, I was very impressed to hear him go on at length about how no one should blame Paquette for the loss.

There is a lot of talk about how he is a player's coach, and it really showed during this series.

No, but I'd wager that we won't be seeing him in a TB uniform again.
