The hart in the definition NHL.com had was exactly what I posted in brackets ( MVP to team ) forgive me if they were wrong . - RileyB77

Bishop being MVP of the Lightning may not be like Player X being MVP of his team. Each team has an MVP. But some are more valuable to their team than others. |

:0 I can still post so it's ok and bishop was pretty significant for us . Hart is a big trophy and won't go to bishop but he could deserve a nominee for sure . It comes down to 3 guys and bishop may be just as deserving as any of them . How significant was he to our team ? He meant a lot this year on many ways
was anyone as important to their teams success as bishops was to ours? hard to say, theres many candidates but he is definitely one I think |

I think there are about 5-8 guys that would get nominations before Bishop does. To say the least, Bishop was sub-par after the olympics (no surprise with a torn wrist ligament).
Think Crosby, Getzlaf, Giroux, Varlamov, Seguin, possibly Keith, Rask.
Not knocking Bishop by any means, but he wouldn't be in the top 5 in my opinion. Like Michael said, had he kept it up all year, he'd definitely be in the conversation, but the reality is, post olympic break, he had a good amount of games where his save % was probably under .900

true. but his presence was essential for our success, and it showed. he meant a lot. I think he could deserve a nomination, more so than keith or rask or Crosby. take those guys out and their teams are still very successful...not tampa.
is corsby the best player in the world? yes.
is Pittsburgh better with him? yes.
but they still won at a high rate without him |

Definitely agree with the first part. Tampa wouldn't have had the year they had without Bishop. Having said that, you take Crosby's 102 points from the Pens and you're looking at a completely different team. Same with Getzlaf. He had a ridiculous year in Anaheim. Giroux also. He turned that flyers team around. All 3 of those guys brought it all year. |

yeah, but the penguins still are somewhere at the top of the east without him. its been proven over the years. Lightning without bishop at the same time as stamkos? Not so sure we hang onto playoff contention, let alone home ice advantage
its given to the player who means the most to specifically his team, not the best player in the league. bishop fits that description to a T, and arguably hedman as well
vezina announcement should be out anytime today. excited! |

Connolly as in Brett Connolly? He's a winger.

Didn't Connolly play center in Juniors? I agree with you about Gudlevski. If Connolly plays, I hope its top 6. He deserves a chance up there I think. But again, we dont know how he is in the locker room, work ethics etc. |

Considering we aren't putting Ovi in the discussion for Hart, what is the point of bringing him up again? You said that Giroux was good all year, which was simply not the case. I never said Giroux wasn't Hart-worthy this year nor implied that players who go on cold streaks aren't Hart-worthy, I was simply responding to your inaccurate statement.
I'm seriously going to remove the Capitals thing under my username to prevent these (frank)ing stupid responses. |

Please you stated Giroux had a slow start after he was mentioned for the Hart and I responded that so did OV -and he won not stupid just a fact so you get all riled up at the mention of him - it was just a comparison that's all and if you didn't mean the cold streak or Hart worthiness was implied then the only stupid effing thing was you making a throwaway statement like that to begin with. So take away the caps or change your name or just disappear who cares goodbye. |

Connelly has played center also is Gudleveskis isn't ready then what is he played in the Olympics and the playoffs and looked good in both yes I know small sample but I'd rather him the backup than Lindback |

it was a response to your completely inaccurate statement that Giroux brought it all year. He did not. Does that mean he shouldn't get Hart nods? No. In fact, I have Crosby winning it with Giroux and Bishop as the runner-ups. Getzlaf plays on a line with Corey Perry. |

Connolly has played center, but I'd rather have a guy who's a natural center anchoring that third line. Connolly is a natural winger. He's had a lot of success on the wing in Syracuse.
As for Gudlevskis, you make my point for me by noting that it's a small sample size. He had one great game at the Olympics and he looked good in very limited NHL action. But he is still incredibly raw. We haven't seen wild Gudlevskis on the big stage yet. The reality is that he's a .900SV% goaltender in the AHL who is prone to making huge technical errors. Potential is clearly there, but he's not ready for the show quite yet. |

I have not followed much about this years NHL draft.. does anyone know who the Bolts will be looking at with their pick?
Names I have seen with a quick search are Ivan Barbashev, Nikolay Goldobin, Julius Honka, Nikita Scherbak, Jake Virtanen, Kevin Fiala, Aaron Irving. I don't know enough about these guys but I hope the Bolts go D in the first round but then again in Hockey it seems you always take the best available on your board.
Also where do we pick is it based on points at the end of the season or where we finish in the playoffs? Since we were first out that would be 15th but by points that would be 22nd.
I am rooting for the Rangers but not for Marty, seems like this draft is not that strong but if we had two first round 15-22nd picks we could move into the top ten if we wanted or select two high grade talents. |
