Perhaps i was being a bit harsh on Johnson. I should've said that in the sense that i don't think it will take Ekblad as long as it took Johnson to to establish himself as a top4 then top 2 defensemen.

People are under rating Bennett.....I think he's pretty much neck and neck with Reinhart at this point

I'd compare the 3 top flight prospects to current NHLers like this...

Reinhart - Toews

Bennett - Kesler

Ekblad - Weber

Taking out last year do to the strike, it's the 1st time since 03/04 there was only one 90+ point player.

If not for injuries Getzlaf and Stamkos would've hit the 90+ mark.

I think he means comparing with what dale Tallon is doing with his rebuild. Not what poopty management before him did!

Tallon his built this team from the ground up. We just have been set back so many year by guys like Mike Keenan and Jacques Martin. Those guys were brutal.

I didn't really pay attention to Keenan's career but everytime I see him he seems pissed off. Is he really like that or am I just imagining something?

Honestly, the Sabres organization has still never recovered from the Drury/Briere mess! Darcy should have been fired on the spot after that misjudgment.

Kesler and Richards are very close to being similar. Richards with less offense.

I'd still take Toews (Reinhart) over Richards/Kesler (Bennett)

I think their styles are similar. I could be wrong but they are both fierce players with skill and can fly.

Benn is bigger and more solid, Bennett probably is a better playmaker although Benn is no slouch

Even during the clutch and grab era there was always more than one. I'm sure we all would like to see it go back to the high flying days of the 80's.

The Sabres should have read between the lines if what was said about Drury's contract falling through in the middle of the year was true, and focused completely on Briere.
