Reinhart is the player this team should be eyeing as their top choice IMO.

I agree, but if Florida takes him, then what?

I want difference makers more than anything. Bennett sounds like he is closest to making an NHL impact but has a lower ceiling. The rest of the prospects are a step below the "top 3".

The problem with drafting where you are weakest in the NHL is that more often than not, the position you are weak at now, may not be the same when the kid is actually ready to suit up. Lately, it's different in the top 5 somewhat, but overall, you draft to stockpile your prospect pool, not address the needs of your current roster. There's a reason Colorado drafted MacKinnon despite the fact that they were so deep at the position. He was simply the biggest difference maker available. That's what I want the Sabres to get: a difference maker, regardless of position. From what I read and hear, there are two of them, Reinhart and Ekblad. Reinhart is obviously the first choice because he does play a position of need, but the Sabres, despite their depth at the position, have a lot of guys projected to be good to very good. You need someone great back there as well. If what they're saying about Ekblad is true, I have no problem taking him should Florida take Reinhart.

Yep I agree. If the ahl was like how college football is to the nfl and thy have to draft from that then I say draft for needs but because they are drafting kids I say take the most promising player with the #1 overall

he needs to put on some major weight. Listed between 165-178. We take him, he goes back to juniors.

You make valid points. It is about the prospect pool.

To be honest, I think it's almost arguing semantics here. Either way we're adding to the prospect pool and each and everyone is still a gamble until they prove themselves.

Heard, 1-20 is equal to 1-5 this year with the 1-5 next year being better than this years 1-5.

If we take the second pick in the draft and put him back in juniors that would be funny.

I think either Bennett or Reinhart should stay in junior next year

Never liked the player and said he was a bust from the get go. Just my opinion of course.

Bennett= Jaime Benn IMO. Physical C/LW that can fly, but won't put up 90 points

Ekblad= Erik Johnson

Ekblad sounds like he's closer to the Doughty/Keith mold to me. I'm willing to take that risk.

I think your being a bit harsh on Ekblad and a bit generous on Bennett. The top 3 in this draft are all pretty close but it seems like Reinhart and Ekblad are the only ones being touted as potential game changers.

Ennis to the Oil for Sam Gagner.

Nobody puts up 90 points anymore. Crosby was the only one to pass that mark.

Erik Johnson was just as highly touted as Ekblad.

Ok quick question if the Sabres do not reach the cap floor what happens? Do we get a fine or lose a draft pick?

They just don't qualify for revenue sharing. Or in other words: they leave money on the table.
