There is a reason New York traded two draft picks and Callahan for St Louis.
- Maximum Signal

I still think it was a steep price for St. Louis, and that Tampa ends up winning this deal even if Callahan signs elsewhere, unless the Rangers somehow get to the finals. That being said, Tampa Bay handcuffed themselves in the short term.

Last time, they are 2 different players.

You take this too personally. Callahan is good. St. Louis is a sh1t load better. Like a top 10 player since the lockout better

2 different players. One of them makes a bigger difference than the other. Unfortunately for Tampa, it isn't the guy wearing their uniform.
- buffalofan19

Stamkos scores goals, St. Louis scores goals.

Callahan - blocks goals, hits, works on PK, sits in front of net on PP and gets killed.

2 different roles, 2 different players.

I agree with that . But also some folks just plain over value Callahan . Could it be because he is from Western New York ?

They'll forget all about St. Louis when Kucherov and Drouin round out their top six.

Goalies do that, he blocks shots, and if I'm not mistaking coming into this game Callahan had ZERO blocked shots in the playoffs. You're right two different roles, one is significantly more important to a team than the other and one is significantly easier to replace.

Yes, we established this. And I'm establishing 2 elite goal scorers >>>>> 1 elite goal scorer and a defensive forward with a blue collar work ethic, as Montreal is illustrating oh so well.

Which is another reason why the Rangers easily traded their captain mid season when they were a playoff team

St. Louis has 129 points in his last 129 games

Callahan has 67 in his last 110.

That's a huge downgrade offensively

- sbroads24

St Louis 7 pts in 19 games with the NYR
Callahan 11 pts in 20 games
