I can't be the only one to think the "Turris is as good or is almost as good as Bergeron" talk is a little crazy can I?

The thing is, I actually quite like what Turris brings to this team. I think asking more from him is a little naive.

True. Zibanejad has great numbers for a second year player. In addition, Lazar will make this team next year and log a reasonable amount of ice. Just think Kadri would thrive in the positive Ottawa culture. Toronto is an awful place for a young player to break in.

I remember last year when people said that Ceci would make the team this year and I thought the same thing I think now - I'll be a monkey's uncle if he plays with the team next year. I hope he's good enough to make the team and I'm cautiously optimistic he will.

The Oil Kings are up 2-0 in their WHL conference finals series... Lazar has 15pts in 11gp. They play tonight in Medicine Hat. The BSens, who host the WBSPens in the first round of the AHL playoffs, play Friday. The Sens... play in September

Following Lazar all season. Makes me think of Mike Fisher with soft hands.

He has been a good player for you guys. He isn't on the same level as Bergeron yet.

On the other hand, it is easier to play for Boston, the dirtiest team in the league that is also immune to almost all suspensions.

Hey Conor,

I have no problems with you making crazy statements about Karlsson or any other Sens player, you have an opinion and rightly or wrongly it's yours.

Don't say another word about Anne Frank though. She was a hero and is loved by billions (yes billions) of people around the world. It's because of people like her that you or me are able to live without fear of opression. I waited for 4 hours to see her house and it was worth every second. If I had waited another 4 hours it would still have been worth the wait.

So please have some respect.

He's right about them being immune to suspensions, but that's because their owner and Ed Snider are the two guys making most of the decisions wrt staffing the NHL offices.

sending fisher (who's realistically an avg 2nd liner) to nashville (who's in another conf) is not the same as sending a top line center to a hated division rival
- sensarmy_11

This!

If I were trading Spezza to TO it would not be for a softie package of Clarkson and their #1.

It would start at Kadri + 1st + another asset

my suggestion wasn't that he's as good now......it was that they play similar games, and that is what i think turris will become. a player who can shuf down the other teams best, while still putting up 60-70pts. i'll take that over 70-75pts, and a defensive liability, ANY DAY

Lets not get carried away - Anne Frank was a good kid, but lets not pretend she did anything to curb oppression. If her diary hadn't been found, we wouldn't even know of her.

We are trading Spezza here, not Karlsson .People expect too much return for a player we wouldnt be signing anyhow .Spezza wants Toronto ,and for what he done for this team he deserves to go where he wants .

People forget he will 31 years old ,and has a long list of injuries and comes with a huge price tag .If we can add a solid bottom 6 player that does what Neil is supposed to do and add a top 10 1st i dont see what the problem is TBH

So you want to give up a 1st line point producer for a third liner with 6 years left on his contract? And a pick that in all honesty Ottawa wouildn't really benefit from? I mean it's a forward heavy draft and the d men in the draft (except Ekblad) will top out as 3-4 guys in hopefully 405 years)

Sorry, I am willing to accept a 2nd line C (Kadri) with upside and the pick (which we would most likely trade for a established D man)

Exactly. Even if he is dominating the shot battle, and putting up 65 points a season, that's stil better than being killed most of the game in your own end and putting up an additional 20 points.

Is one point more every four games worth paying a defensive liability 7 million dollars per?

I say no, and I have yet to see a good argument against that besides "but Spezza is talented!"

i get that spezza has been great for us, but to hell with what HE wants. murray's job is to do what is best for the OTTAWA SENATORS, not jason spezza. and trading a top line center to a hated division rival, while at the same time taking on one of the worst contracts in the nhl, is ABSOLUTELY NOT what's in the best interest of the team.

no disrespect to spezza, but (frank) what he wants

We wouldnt be taking Clarkson at full cap hit or money ,Clarkson at 5.2 mil is never gonna fly .Toronto would have to retain half of the term and monies owed for the length of that contract.Clarkson at 2.6 mil isnt bad at all ,he would give us some grit and can play a bit kinda like neil used too.The first would be the price on top

I doubt it.

Pretty silly to be honest. If all we get is Neil 2.0 and a pick in a crummy draft and fans are ok with that, then Spezza deserves to play elsewhere.

Do you honestly believe that Spezza is not gonna look to resign there anyhow when he is a FA.And we wouldnt be taking Clarkson at 6 years and 5.2 mil per ,we would be taking him at 2.6 for 6 years .Getting the 8th overall gives us another chip to use to fill another hole

Yeah, I'm with you here.

Just one of the worst proposals I've ever seen. And I've seen some doozies here in 3 and a half years on the buzz.

Spezza, a top line center, to a division rival, and we get a mid round 1st and a good checking line winger who is paid 6.5 million?

Even if they eat half his salary (they won't), that's still 3.25 million. How would you propose they manage to eat 3.5 million in salary for 6 years and still take on the 7 mill Spezza will want?

Crazy proposal, topshelf.

What do honestly think we will get for him ???I love Spezza but do you not think the rest of the league was watching something else when he was on the ice .The guy just doesnt fit here
