Next year will be even worse for you guys. 5 players taking up half of the salary cap.

I thought that Downie was listed as a healthy scratch?
- FlyersSteve118

Technically I guess he is. But he hasn't been right since the concussions.

That's another choice I'm glad I don't have to make -- man, I don't even know what to do about that. Like PSG said earlier...when some matchups just don't favor you, you just have to hold your breath and hope the guys don't get scored on.
- AllInForFlyers

The reality is, that if you look at come metrics, there isn't a single matchup that favored the Flyers in the entire series so far.

It's definitely interesting; as always, the Pens have more top-end talent, but they're being put to the test by how Columbus plays, which is very much gritty and with heart.

One thing about the Jackets is this: They're big, too, and mobile. They gave the Flyers fits this season, too.

- AllInForFlyers

Johannsen is one of the next top level young players too. If they got a little more skill, they could be really dangerous. They absolutely smack people on every shift.

and dubinsky is fast making a name for himself as an absolute pooppest.

She gets a lot of heat from the Hockey writers in town because of the way she carries herself.

I heard one of the more senior media guys say something like, If she wants people to take her seriously she should stop posting underwear shots and soliciting pin up calendars on her facebook account. If I was a woman covering sports in Philadelphia I wouldn't even talk to her.

- mayorofangrytown

i met her playing in a charity game last year that she was involved in organizing/running. do. not. like. that's all i'm gonna' say.

I thought it was at the time. A healthy Downie, playing like he's capable of. could help this team right now. Unfortunately, he didn't show any signs of being that player down the stretch.

Yeah our cap numbers are going to be a little tight, but it will still allow us to sign a dman in the off season to replace timonen (or resign Timonen if he doesn't retire) Paying two players 18.2mil and almost 33% of your cap is not a recipe for success. And Letang with getting 7.25mil next year that is 25.45mil to 3 players, ouch. I don't know who handles the cap for Pitt next year, but there is going to be a lot of shuffling around to do.

They all need to play better but Quick has looked like he has no idea where the puck's going when it leaves a Shark stick. I don't want to say he quit out there last night but I'd have pulled him again. He was waving at the fans in the third period not trying to stop pucks.
- mayorofangrytown

i would have pulled him after the 4th goal. he just looked fried. still trying but was overplaying just about everything. i've been there. you feel like no matter where you are or what you do it's going to end up in the net. and it does. your fault or not. it's a horrible place to be and the game feels like it will never end.

i loathe horton, but i think if he can get back to being what they envisioned when signing him, he will fit perfectly. honestly, im glad for columbus getting to be damn respectable. just wish it would come at the expense of another team haha

the letang signing will ache. i still think it can be done with malkin and crosby on their respective deals. however, i question whether DB is the guy to do it for them, if only because of his dislike of trusting young guys. if you look at the successful teams now, those cheap ELC producers are vital. even more so on a team with such cap spending like youve pointed out.

Neal's $5 million a year is a bargain!
Kunitz's salary is very cap friendly as well!

I'm just glad Jordan Staal didn't want to sign long-term with them. Sutter is okay, but he is no Staal. The Kennedy-Staal-Cooke line gave the Flyers plenty of trouble. The Pens third line hasn't been nearly as potent in two years.

i know purists may not like it, but I love seeing non traditional markets have success, and really being given a chance to see if they will take to it or not.

They definitely are. They both need to step up though. a very quiet series so far. Neal is a good sniper, but is almost entirely dependent upon his center for offense.

Simmonds and jakes deals are both also extremely reasonable.
