Since you're here, I will respond to the earlier quote about Mason and Emery.

I agree the team needs to play better no matter who is in net. I just feel Mason gives them the best chance to win. Even if it takes him a game to get acclimated. I feel his ability to steal a game will mean more than Emery's steady, but unspectacular play.

They won't be scoring 3-5 goals against Lundqvist a lot. They need someone who will be able to keep the Rangers under 3 goals even if the team is out chanced. Emery did it once, but I think Mason is more equipped to do it over the course of an entire series.

With all that being said, I don't want Mason back unless he can do everything he was able to before the injury. Not saying the cliche 100%, but he needs to have the same amount of quickness.

- PhillySportsGuy

I'm fine either way. I just don't think it's that big of a difference between the two, especially at ES. If they're going keep taking this many penalties though, maybe Mase would be the better bet since his PK SV% is much much better.

I'm more worried about other stuff, like how they haven't figured out the discipline thing, and how their coverage in their dzone is alarmingly prone to break downs, and they haven't figured out how to get the possession game closer than 40-60.

Mason has better movement than Emery, but I think even Mason would really have had no chance at those two power play goals by New York in Game 1. Maybe the outcome would have been 2-1 Rangers or 3-1 Rangers, but I don't believe the way the offense was playing that Mason could have 'stole' Game 1.
- Streit2ThePoint

Leight to the party, but I will say this.. I think Emery is slower post to post than Mase is, but I feel more confident with Ray in there than with Bryz or Leighton or even Boucher... The goaltending tandem this year has been solid and Homer deserves credit

They all need to play better but Quick has looked like he has no idea where the puck's going when it leaves a Shark stick. I don't want to say he quit out there last night but I'd have pulled him again. He was waving at the fans in the third period not trying to stop pucks.
- mayorofangrytown

I would have pulled him too. Game 3 means everything. Not just winning or losing but the style of play. The Kings need to show they can slow the Sharks down. If they can win a 2-0 game, we have a series. If they win a 5-4 game, I don't see it going past 5.

I think things will get better at home. They can dictate match ups a little more and get Giroux away from McDonagh. They can spot the 4th line more minutes too. Our 4th line just kills us on the road in possession. I think they were like 20% in game 1.

And that's really it; winning three more games is going to require the Flyers to play better than they did yesterday -- even taking fewer penalties, though some of the calls haven't been what I would like to see, is a start.

I don't know that this roster composition is going to see more possession time for us, unfortunately. If they can just pay attention to details in their own zone and don't give up the quality of chances they have, then the margin for error becomes something that should be able to withstand the eyeball test and be sustainable.

What I saw last night was a team that had every single answer to what the Kings were trying to do, and TBH, I'm not sure LA's got anything left to try.

San Jose probably could've had 10 goals last night, by my count.

I have been getting into it a lot the last few days with Habs fans trumpeting that they are Canada's team.. I say (frank) you... The Flyers have more Canadians on the team than Montreal does, so no.. they do not represent me as a Canadian..

Also, it's not just our game even though it's part of the social fabric up here..

Should have done it, but she probably would be pissed though. Are you American? Im Finnish/Russian. I really wanted Canada to lose to the Finns in the olympics. Would have been a great upset.

Maybe if LA skated, hit, and played a semblance of defense, they'd cut down on some of the goals. They looked good for about 15 minutes, and then it's like they were skating in mud and their sticks were made of cement.

Yes completely. Who are the American players on the Flyers? Adam Hall, Steve Mason, Matt Read. The Canadiens have so many more.

It is part of the social fabric but its a game shared but a portion of the world. A good analogy for the situation is Spain saying football their game because they dominate. Just no.

Hopefully... G needs to get away from McD/Girardi in the worst way, but I'm not sure there's a way to hide the 4th-line, even at home. Rangers will win 4th vs 4th all day, everyday.

Unless they think Hanky's going to sport a sub-.900 SV% the rest of the series, they need to find a more repeatable path to victory.

And yeah, philosophy + roster composition suggests they aren't going to morph into the 'Hawks overnight, but I think they are good enough to get it a bit closer than it's been.

Agreed -- LA doesn't have to roll over, that's for sure, and in theory, you should be able to put a few past Niemi.

Just something about it last night...you see teams lose their discipline like the Kings did when they kinda know they're in the deep end of the pool. It's too strong to say they quit. I think it's more accurate to say they are acutely aware of exactly what they're facing, and they realize it's gonna be tough sledding. Real tough.

G's QoC against D is very high. I think he's taken 39 shifts and 29 of them have come against McD and Girardi.

I just (frank)ing hate our 4th line. That first goal came from a bad pass, but Coburn had nowhere to go with the puck. The entire 4th line was just standing at the blue line fully covered.

I found it amusing that the 4th line scored a goal without Vinny on the ice.

Read and Mase are Canadian.. So is Roux, Harts, Schenn X2 A mac, Simmonds VL, Emery, Coburn, Rino, Cooter Akeson...

I wouldn't even say we dominate it anymore... Look a recent World championships and World juniors.. AND that's a good thing.. Watching the women's game at the Olympics with only 2 good teams for years was horrible.

Believe me, I hear you -- I agree with all of this. Sustainability has to be the key here, because they do have to beat them three more times. If we concede that the Rags are maybe gonna get a few more quality chances overall each game, and they might based on a few factors, then the Flyers have to do a little better job of decreasing some of those.
