Their defense has been subpar. Do you think it was the right choice for Sutter to leave Quick in there last night? No matter what arguements any one makes to justify his decision, I just dont think its the right move to leave your starting former veniza goaltender in there to get slaughtered in the playoffs.
- FrmRusiaWifGlov

It was probably a message to everyone to step up. Pulling Quick in back-to-back games wouldn't send much of a message.

She tends to take any general criticism of the beat personally and gets super defensive, I find it offputting.
- BulliesPhan87

She's a good writer, and I don't know how many of the stories are her decisions or if her assignments are coming in from above -- but I'm so tired of the fluff pieces where everything is just empty, meaningless words: Akeson's / Heeters' journey or about X player's first playoff game.

In 9 out of 10 of those stories, player names, city names, and minor league team names can be cut and pasted.

Philadelphia might have a better educated hockey fanbase if casual fans had an outlet for real hockey information -- i.e. what x player does on the ice and why that player's decisions or efforts on the ice matter over the course of the game. (Keep up the good work, Bill!--Philadelphia and Dallas appreciate it.)

Leave the fluff pieces for the off-season, when the ice has melted, when there aren't games to comment on.

Haha look at this gem:

pens/steelers/rule

I wish the Pens were fortunate to have Philly in the first round. CBJ has just bored the Pens and even myself finding that to be the worse series in a great playoffs. Philly and Pens games are dirty, nasty, exciting and more often then not we own Philly and Sid and Geno destroy Philly.

I get it. It does send a message to the team in front of Quick, but what kind of message does it send to Quick himself? I dont care what kind of goalie you are, letting in 7 goals is going to mess with your confidence. I still think I would pull him.

How long do you have the series going? I think the Kings can pull out 1 win

i didnt realize that he was hurting. It looked like a hell of a shot. But even if Kimmo broke his hand of that one, im sure he is going to play through it

Ergh. I hate the Canadian superiority complex. It drives me insane. Especially having to deal with it with the Olympics is aggravating.

Off topic, but did anyone see the LA/SJ or TB/MTL series coming?

I figured Montreal would win (actually, I did pick TB for an upset on a stretch), but I didn't see them dominating TB like they have. Lindback is the only reason that the game wasn't a 6-2 loss.

I figured LA/SJ would be a much closer series. I'm amazed that SJ has outscored them 13-5 over 2 games. That's just unreal. I mean, SJ has a good team, but I expected more from LA.

- jmatchett383

Totally surprised. I thought both would go 7 games. Still not writing the Kings off. They can still win that series.

It's been a really tough series for Tampa. The stretch where Tampa had a goal disallowed on a bad call, Stamkos took a knee to the head and Subban's assist was brutal from a Tampa perspective.

Tampa has everything they need moving forward though. They have a top 3 center, top tier young defenseman, a terrific young goalie a young team overall and a VERY strong prospect pool. Oh, and MVP Matt Carle.

She gets a lot of heat from the Hockey writers in town because of the way she carries herself.

I heard one of the more senior media guys say something like, If she wants people to take her seriously she should stop posting underwear shots and soliciting pin up calendars on her facebook account. If I was a woman covering sports in Philadelphia I wouldn't even talk to her.

I bet the Kings get, at least, 2 wins. I still think they're a good team. San Jose looks unbelievable though. If San Jose played Colorado, the games would look like a tennis match.

I'm fine with her shtick. I don't take anything she says too seriously. If she wants to play those games, she can't cry wolf when no one respects her.

It's like Danica Patrick posing half naked in magazines and doing GoDaddy adds then saying "I just want to be treated like every other driver."

I feel like LA can turn things on quickly. I don't think they'll be rattled by giving up so many goals. I wouldn't be shocked to see them come back and shutout the Sharks.

The Sharks are playing at a very high level right now. All those people who say "The Flyers have way too many centers. They can't win with this many!" need to look at the sharks.

Flyers win: "Emery was great!"

- bradleyc4

HA! Yep. And such as it ever was...to be honest, I don't know what I would've done tomorrow, if Mason had been able to go.

With the Flyers, there's no winning those kinds of choices. I just accept that when the time comes to make it, someone's gonna do something to piss somebody off, and there will be repercussions that will reverberate for seasons to come -- a choice that if another team did it, no matter what that choice was, would be accepted for what it was.

Since you're here, I will respond to the earlier quote about Mason and Emery.

I agree the team needs to play better no matter who is in net. I just feel Mason gives them the best chance to win. Even if it takes him a game to get acclimated. I feel his ability to steal a game will mean more than Emery's steady, but unspectacular play.

They won't be scoring 3-5 goals against Lundqvist a lot. They need someone who will be able to keep the Rangers under 3 goals even if the team is out chanced. Emery did it once, but I think Mason is more equipped to do it over the course of an entire series.

With all that being said, I don't want Mason back unless he can do everything he was able to before the injury. Not saying the cliche 100%, but he needs to have the same amount of quickness.

They all need to play better but Quick has looked like he has no idea where the puck's going when it leaves a Shark stick. I don't want to say he quit out there last night but I'd have pulled him again. He was waving at the fans in the third period not trying to stop pucks.
