I don't think anyone advocates letting someone play poorly game after game. MJL said it best. If he comes out and doesn't play his best; he deserves another shot (or two). If he comes out and doesn't play his best, and it is attributed to his injury; sit his a$$ down and let the healthy backup win some more games.

If he comes in and plays poorly, and then gets another two shots and falters, the team's golfing. I'd give him one bad game and maybe a bad period.

I'd expect he'll want a bigger workload and a chance at starting.

Haha look at this gem:

pens/steelers/rule

I wish the Pens were fortunate to have Philly in the first round. CBJ has just bored the Pens and even myself finding that to be the worse series in a great playoffs. Philly and Pens games are dirty, nasty, exciting and more often then not we own Philly and Sid and Geno destroy Philly.

Are we all ignoring the crazy post intimating that Mason injured himself while embellishing his fall? I can't decide if we're ignoring it or if people missed it.

That guy's a constant. He's actually the reason I keep off on TSN's comments.

I wasn't sure whether to rail against it and make the poster feel like an ass, or just shake my head and walk away from it.

No, don't even break stride, just keep rolling on.

Edit: Sadly, Tim's column for tomorrow:
"It's been rumored by sources that Mason injured himself trying to draw a penalty."

In regards to the penalties, a big thing is the Rangers taking shots at the Flyers and Philly responding in retaliation.

Initiate, don't retaliate.

MJL, I thought Mason had to be bad for like 3-4 games before we go back to Emery.
- jmatchett383

I did not state how many games it would have to be before going back to Emery. So not sure where you are getting that from. What I did say is that I would not pull Mason and go back to Emery after one bad game. Unless I thought that he was not fully recovered from the injury, and that was the reason why he struggled.

So, what is the magic number? How many bad games does Mason get?

If you read the Rangers thread, they say the opposite.

If that's a legit article--then, good grief. Between his nonsense and Baicker's "fluff-pieces" (and I used to like her, she seemed more critical early on) I'm just done.

If we're playing a game where we can write Tim's terrible articles for him--I'd say
"Rumors suggest that Mason injured himself because he was afraid of Philadelphia playoff pressure"

Baicker has lost me too. I only read any MSM article to find the quotes by the players or coaches. I ignore everything else.

There is no magic number. Nor can it be stated how many bad games. It's a feel thing. Mason is the starter, and the only reason he hasn't been playing is because of an injury. But you also can't let the series and the season go down the drain by sticking with him for too long if he's not right.

And really Mason shouldn't go back in until he looks sharp and fully ready to go in practice. And that the Coaches, GM, medical staff all agree that he is ready. If there's doubt, they should continue to stick with Emery.

She tends to take any general criticism of the beat personally and gets super defensive, I find it offputting.

that game winning goal should not have counted. hank made a save on a delayed penalty and philly put in the rebound. the play should have been dead when hank stopped that shot. howard stopped a shot on a delayed penalty in the next game and the puck was whistled down right away. if hank had not stopped the puck it would have been a goal
