I don't know how the media is in Toronto or Montreal, but I always had the impression that the Ottawa hacks wanted to make drama like those in the bigger cities... some terrible garbage out there. Honestly, our best journalist is a basketball afficianado from New York.

Spezza makes Lupul a huge goal scorer. Spezza had poopty wingers all year and was hot down the stretch after returning form injury. He's having a better year next year. Just think, he played far below his abilities and he still got 66 pts in 75 games.

Does anybody not wonder that it is Murray and the Senator's who are pushing this story. Last week the story was that Ottawa was going to trade Spezza this summer. Now the story is Spezza would like to go to Toronto.

I am stunned by the Leaf fans keen to add Spezza to their long term contracted players, right beside Clarkson and Phaneuf. Spezza has a no trade contract. If he accepts a first trade he surrenders the no trade condition and could be traded again by the new club without having anY control. So, he will insist on a contract extension before agreeing to any trade.

This whole story is crazy from a Leaf perspective, it does not make any sense.

oops, correction, Spezza only has a minor no trade deal. He can name 10 teams he would not accept and that is the limit to his control. Report this morning Ottawa wants top draft pick and player in return..way too rich for Leafs.

i agree he'll be moved....but it 100% won't be to the leafs.

Completely agree. The only way he would be traded to TO is if TO offered a huge deal. And I really hope they don't. But again, am not at all sure they won't.

I believe Ottawa and Islanders did a deal with Berrard and Redden changing sweaters. Somehow the Leafs were part of it with Damien Rhodes coming to Ottawa. Cool name, beautiful wife, very average goaltender.

I don't disagree about the Ducks. In the end it might end up looking like Spezza for Bobby Ryan. But, if the Kings go easy against the Sharks they will be searching for scoring this summer.

Yes Lindholm and Silfverberg for Spezza would be a very fair return. If Anahiem also traded for the "rights" to Hemsky it would be a pretty exciting return for them.

Their line would probably lead the league in goals for and goals against.

It would be damn exciting hockey to watch, though. Throwback to the 80s.

Kadri is available because he will not play a 200' game. If Carlyle stays Kadri is gone. I actually think Leafs would be making a mistake to move him at this time. Even bigger mistake to move him to Ottawa. It could become hugely uncomfortable if he continues to grow his game.

Jason Spezza is not the Jason Spezza of 2007. Dany Heatley is a healthy scratch playing for the Wild.

There is no reason to more him. I wouldn't remotely think about moving him for spezza. doesn't fix the issues, only causes more problems.

I think that is entirely correct. Kadri can still improve his game. Spezza is at least 4 years past his peak production year. His game is in decline and it would be crazy for the Leafs to give up Kadri and a pick for him.

Because of budget considerations Kadri plus Clarkson for Spezza does make some sense. Murray apparently thinks Clarkson has game and has just had an off year.

There is no chance Spezza to the Leafs happens.

I can honestly see Spezza going to the Leafs.

The Leafs want to 'win now', and they need a bona fide first line center. The Sens, under "I'm poor, but really not" Melnyk are likely going to get rid of Spezza.

In my opinion, it seems like a good fit.

Toronto will likely overpay for a guy like Spezza who is also a Toronto boy.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if it actually was Kadri + prospect (or Dman) + pick for Spezza. As a Sens fan, I would actually be happy with that. I don't think any other team would give Ottawa as much for Spezza as the Leafs. While trading within the division is taboo, at the end of the day a GM has to get what he can for an asset.
