I don't understand the notion that just because the tank is "off" it means we automatically can't end up with a top 5 pick. Coming into this year the Isles were projected to compete for a playoff spot, now they're drafting 5th overall. And we don't have anyone remotely close to JT level.

No, i've already mentioned before why I know. Just like I posted a few weeks ago that changes were coming in the coaching staff and players, coaches are gone and players are next.

Combine that with plenty of teams trying to get better. A lot of things would have to go right for us to not draft top 5 next year.

Murray has much as said they will be competitive but there will not be drastic changes made either . They will still be a bottom feeder . He will leave as much potential in Rochester as possible . He wants them to learn how to win in the minors. He did the same thing in Ottawa and Binghamton won the Calder cup under him

Think of it this way... Terry and company will suffer from another tank season. There a lot more fans that spend money and have no freakin clue of whats going on with the team. ex: draft picks, prospect or what we even have in the pipeline coming up. The are more concerned of being entertained at the arena. Us on here are few .

By accepting that this team will be awful, I have literally set zero expectations for next season.

Its typical Buffalo fan loser Da-nile (aint just a river in Africa) to actually set expectations next year of being a better team by trading for established NHL players, signing FA's and giving up on building through the draft.

I get that thinking because it's along the lines of what the Flames did this year. They kept their fans entertained and had young players showing promise and still finished with a top 5 pick. That's basically what I think next year will be like for us.
