what can you possibly add to this team to make them a contender next year. to make them anything but absolutely awful.

its not as if ennis/hodg/stafford had awful seasons. stafford maybe, but he's never going to be a 60-70 point player. 15 more points from stafford isn't going to suddenly turn us into the blackhawks.

stewart? is his production going to be that much different than the vanek/moulson combo we had throughout this past season.

and we have a whole season without miller. we were absolutely terrible at the end of the year, goalie injuries or not.

we could add callahan AND ovechkin and still compete for that top pick.

i'm waiting for someone to actually explain to me how we will be anything short of awful next season.

And as per the post you quoted, I will be severely disappointed if this team is not best chance at winning the lottery bad (very likely) or serious Stanley Cup contenders (very unlikely). Anything in between would be a failure.

Correct on both, IMO we would have won a few more games if Enroth didn't get hurt after Miller was traded. Wouldn't have mattered I just would have liked to see a few more wins

IMO we have a very good chance to start this team in the right direction next season, not saying we will be a playoff team but getting a new start with new direction will be a good thing.

Goal scoring was way more of an issue than our goaltending. Even Hackett and Knapp put together a couple good games.

Agreed. But 52 points is horrible. That's 41 points out of the playoffs. Nobody is delusional enough to think the team will make a 40 pt improvement, but can they get 53 points?

Last I heard was he may need surgery to repair his knee. Don't know if that has actually happened though.
