STL you can't be sure Seabs wasn't blocked or screened from seeing BackAss didn't have the puck. Even so he's moving quickly, it was a bam, bam play. It happens.

The player who's pissin me off with idiot penalties is that turnover machine, VerSteeg. Guy needs to be given a seat.

- Mr Ricochet

If you're looking for the puck - which at that point in that game he should have been - instead of headhunting - which he shouldn't have been, given the circumstances - he would have seen the puck away and moving from Backes.

Watching the replay, don't see anything screening his vision.

He was headhunting, pure and simple - 5 minutes left in a 3-2 play-off game - and his head was focused on the wrong thing.

Versteeg - bad penalty. Toews - bad penalty. Keith - bad penalty after having been beaten on a play. Bickell - bad penalty (which us not immune from suspension). Seabrook.

No lack of candidates for stupidest penalty of the night - but the winner has to be Seabrook.

The whole team - it's like their heads are not in the game - like they don't know what the situation is.

If your sick of BackAss or any other intend to injure Blue, make em pay on the PP. StanBowPops&McD built this team to stick check and allow their players to get slaughtered without retaliating but payback by scoring on the PP.

We've seen em do it that way to the Scumbag Canucks on the way to winning Cups.

Who knows what Seabs was thinking but the guy is clean, a pros pro with two rings. I'll defer to him.

- Mr Ricochet

I can't see where Seabrook was out to injure Backes. He was out to finish his check, there's no doubt about that, and he probably wanted Backes to feel that hit for good measure. But to say that he targeted his head is pure bullpoop.

Backes targets players. See MacKinnon and the shower-raping Backes put on him a couple of weeks back.

So has Seabrook been tried, convicted and executed yet?
- EKolb13

Yeah, lots of posters from other teams acting like Seebs is a headhunter comparing him to guys like Torres and Orpik. You can tell they don't see Hawks on a regular basis. How was the Rockford game?

Yep! Penalties have been their demise! But I do think they've outplayed them...
- MnGump

Tell me what you saw that leads you to conclude they outplayed the blues?

They were sleep skating the 1st half of gme 2 and psssed away 3 pp's. They had no offensive zone pressure.

When you watch him after the play and all the bullpoop he dishes out. Not saying I want to see the guy injured but what goes around comes around.

Am I happy about the hit and the eventual outcome of the game? No. But when you watch Backes crosschecking Toews in the back of the head and I believe was responsible for one of JT's concussions.

Saw him today trying to engage Saad when Saad was headed to the bench and DB was using his stick up high on him; big surprise. Head wasn't the point of contact but was crosschecking him behind the play and it's what this guy does. It's his thing/M.O.

Don't hope that he's hurt but certainly can't feel sorry for him.

I don't care how it sounds at all. Not everyone is a saint. Most aren't. Most people want to seem so mature and so enlightened. I don't. If you are a dirtbag you deserve crap. I'm talking life in general. Plus a few on the blues if you are an a-hole. You deserve bad things to happen to you. Just in general. Not saying anything about the play. The moral to this: just try to be a good person

Seabrooks hit was more stupid than evil - don't know if he targeted the head, but that's what he got.

C'mon dude! As much as I enjoyed seeing Backus throttled, that hit was dirty. Seabrook deserves at least 2 games...

Can someone explain the difference between Seabs hit today... and Reeves hit on Towes THR? How Seabs is bad, but Reeves wasn't..

It is all semantics, it is like high sticking. If your first point of contact is the face/jaw. You are ultimately responsible for that. It is that simple. It does not matter that Seabrook helped an old lady cross the street this morning or that helped a stranded motorist on the highway. He effed up and he will pay.

Nice use of shower rape. Have not heard that in a while. Reminds me of the Brendan Shanahan shower rape suspension i narrated a year or two ago....that was gold...

There is a fine line and they are on the wrong side. I like how they are finally getting pissed and deciding to be physical. I think a lot of the players do play better showing more emotion. But those were some dumb penalties. Hossa has been good on the defensive side, but we need all 4 of the big four to step up offensively in chicago.

Hate to be the kill joy, but it is rather simple. Seabrook, principal point of contact head. Not a side shoulder shoulder deal. Not a shoulder to the chest. It was a shoulder to the face into the glass, when the puck was 15 feet away. He lit him up no doubt..but just horrible.

The Hogs won 7-3. The wife won Terry Broadhurst's jersey off of his back at the end of the game. It was fitting. Orland Park girl wins Orland Park native's jersey.

One bad hit doesn't justify another, but Reeves got him in the shoulder, not the head, IIRC.

After watching him play 70-90 games a year for the past 9 years I'm sure he wasn't headhunting. I'm sure that he was trying to hit him hard but legally but it ended up being a hit to the head and he probably will be suspended even though it will be his first that I remember.
I think that Hockey players are such amazing skaters that sometimes its easy to forget that they are playing on ice and sometimes they are committed to a hit and if someone loses the puck or turns a different way it's too late to pull up.
There are guys in this league who intentionally target Stars and smaller players but I guarantee Seebrook isn't one of them and if he could take back the hit and the resulting loss, I'm sure he would do it.
