Right, kind of like Orpik's hit.
- HawkintheD

Why do you keep bringing up Orpik hit to justify this?

Would you root for them? You'd have to play them later. Oh wait, you aren't in the playoffs.

You might need to get your eyes checked. For real.
- carcus

Hit was to the head. Seabrook could have gone to the chest and didn't.
Boneheaded play and now a suspension of course. He comes Brookstank !!

Guys that's a bad hit. Let's not try to rationalize it. Hopefully the boys pick him up and we get the W

Seabrook was trying to finish the check, and it was unfortunate Backes was angled the way he was or it could have been a good hit.

But it wasn't. It ended up being to the head and not only did he drill him but so close to the boards that it looks like his head snapped back and hit them.

That's a multiple game suspension.

Simple anatomy class will show difference between head and shoulder...

Simple eye exam will allow you to see there is no difference.

For the 10000th time, (frank) off. Seriously. Go pork your sister or whatever you dirtbags in STL do in your free time.
- CBHawks88

I get that you don't want to accept that it was a bad hit. But everyone sees the hit except those that have on homer glasses that was not only a penalty, but should be a suspension.

If Backes didn't start crouching down when he turned off the boards, Seabrook's shoulder would have caught him right in the chest instead of the head. As it is, he'll be suspended and unless the Hawks can pull it out in OT, it'll cost them the game. Gutty penalty kill effort being two men down and then one man down for an extended time. Again, have to do everything you can to block that shot. Can't do much about it now. Have to find a way to regroup and try to get one in OT.

You cannot compare the orpik hit to this. One major difference: toews controlled the puck, backes never did. Whether or not you like it, that matters. Seabrook is gone for a minimum of one game but won't be surprised if it's more.

Good call on the ice. Unfortunate it turned out the way it did. Seabs is not a head hunter and don't think it was intentional.

If Lucic gets a ridiculous $5k fine for PURPOSELY racking someone in the nuts, Seabs should only get a $10k fine.

It was high, late, and unnecessary at that point in the game.

They are not playing smart hockey: 8 penalties on the Hawks, including a major: lucky they're tied.

- StLBravesFan

Just an idiotic hit to sour what was otherwise shaping up to be a nice bounceback effort.

Two leads going into the end of the third equate to zero wins. And two bad goals by Crow.

Not feeling good about this at all.

There is no difference! ...

And Orpik is known for that crap.

- UnnamedSource

Big difference. Point of contact on the hit to Towes was the shoulder, not the head.

The only thing similar about them was that like Orpik, Seabrook just wanted to finish his check and take a chance to nail a guy. That's hockey. It just worked out poorly for him.

look at the replay, his head was up. He was being played by another player and Seabrooks took a cheap shot.

Great, a guy from Pitt chirping in. And Orpik ... never mind.
