Of course he doesn't get it. His team hasn't seen the playoffs since the last century... |

There's just so much hate on this Thread because he is a rough player, who roughed up some of these fan's favorites, as did a lot of the other players. Here's the thing: It's like turn-overs, the players that have the puck the most tend to turn over the most. The Bruins are rougher than most teams so they get away with more. Proportionately it's probably pretty even. You don't hear fans from some of the other rough teams (LA for example) cry about Lucic or the Bruins. I would suggest every other team should stop playing like pansies and the fans will stop crying because they are getting manhandled. - Jeropotato
So, other teams should just skate around spearing other men in balls from behind, sucker punch them while they're being held by refs, blatantly run over goalies when no one else is around, run players into stanchions and break their necks, slew foot players from behind while they're not looking then punch them while they're down, and THEN complain and flop when their own players get laid out? Everyone hates Boston because they're hypocrites, plain and simple. They supposedly play this "rough" style, but then whine and complain like babies when anything happens to them. It's cowardly acts like this that solidify it. You can be "rough" and hit other guys, but to spear another man in the nuts from behind? That is bush league, coward behavior. |

Any coward can cheap shot someone from behind. It doesn't matter what kind of player he is. There should be no tolerance for plays like this at all. For instance, when Legwand butt ended Malkin in the groin in the regular season, that should have been a suspension (feel free to find the Pens blog for that game day and you'll see me say the same thing after the game). The Wings were in a dog fight for a playoff spot at the time. It doesn't matter when it happens, preseason or playoffs, it doesn't belong in the game and unless a message is sent, this kind of thing will keep happening.

Buffalo tried to play the arms race game...all the league did was start suspending Sabres anytime they touched another player...Scott..brought in to rectify the Miller hit situation..can't touch anyone without getting thrown out of the game.. |

you don't get it
i like players like lucic, but dude, a ball busting cheap-shot from behind deserves a 1 game MINIMUM
unfortunately it's the playoffs and unless you're name is zach rinaldo you won't get suspended for anything short of decapitation - Flyfreaky
According to what? Where's the precedent? It's a stick infraction, and not a stick infraction anywhere close to say, McSorely on Brashear.
Again, I think if the ref's saw it he would have justly got 2 minutes like Perry did, HATE for Lucic and the Bruins are the source behind this lynching. |

Those players are supposed to be models to youngsters for this game... Really ? This is beyond stupidity, classless. Multiple game suspension, period. Vicious isn't even the word. I'm a Perry fan, I also like Lucic (yes yes... I'm a Habs fan, but when a good player hits the ice, we respect this). Man how I dislike to see this.
For those that says : "It's always been like this ! Not the first time." This is not an argument. There is a quote I really like : "The most dangerous phrase in the language is "we've always done it this way". ".
Yup. |

i don't care about precedent when it comes to cheap shot/attempt to injure stick infractions
any attempt to injure a player should be a suspendable offense |

I agree 100%. but it wasn't, and no precedent has been set. Should the penalty be stiffer? 100%. But if it wasn't a big deal for Legwand, why should it be for Lucic? I think the league has to review bag shots and set up some discipline, but that's for the off-season.

what else would you be doing ramming your stick into someone's nut sac - Flyfreaky
Yeah, it hurts, but so does punching a guy in the face. Like I said, lot's of stuff happens in games by every team. I think they should review bag shots in the off season and have automatic suspensions perhaps. I don't think they should just go and make an example of Lucic because he is unpopular and his team is dominant. |

again, i don't hate lucic, but yeah, they should have done the right thing and sit him for a game for that shot
so if jurkoff does the same thing to lucic today he'll get a 5k fine
and then chara drops datsyuk for another 5k
and then 3 other wings de-ball 3 more bruins for 5k
and then 5 bruins sac slice 5 other wings for 5k
where does it end? |
