Travis Yost: Do You Believe in Unicorns?
- Travis Yost

I think there is a better chance of me seeing a Mermaid with DD's riding a Unicorn, then there is the Sens having a positive offseason & giving their fan base something to look forward to going into next season.

I don't disagree. He has done exactly what he said he was going to do. The team continues to stress their financial streamlining and their avoidance of bad long term deals. The fans may be unhappy but Melnyk told them exactly what he was going to do.

On the the other hand, if you are a potential investor, buyer or creditor of the team you would be impressed by their having put their books in order. Although fans may be discouraged by what has happened, the franchise has never looked better from a financial perspective.

My frustration today is not with Melnyk (I have already exhausted that line of emotion) but with some of the fans who are just now beginning to pull their hair out about his streamlining costs. Duh! He is doing exactly what he said he was going to do. He is pimping the team for new investment, sale or reorganization and recapitalization. Here is an example of somebody being a year late in terms of just getting it.

When Melnyk comments that any "idiot" can max out on player budgets, he appears to be going against popular opinion of how to have a Stanley Cup contender.. But, at the same time, he is pitching to the sweet spot of investment. As a future owner I don't want a fat, older, highly successful and well paid team. I want a lean, young team that can grow into a contender on my watch.

He has been looking for a partner/investors for about 6-7 years now. He had one lined up if his casino bid was selected.
He doesn't want to give up control though. Which is ultimately the issue at hand.

It has "epic" written all over it. And we're only two games into the series.
Pretty impressive how the Blues have been able to switch into playoff mode after such a lame finish to the regular season.

Most unfortunate thing is the epic fail in reffing in the Pit/Clb series... Pittsburgh evidentally can't do any wrong. Columbus is getting jobbed by the refs.

That was the softest roughing call I have ever seen.

I have to agree with Gene on this one.

The thing you can't see from the org chart is the 18 person consulting team of external CSI workers, developing extra thick sock backs to save achilles, writing reports that give us MASSIVE good p.r. and top credibility in league offices, and perhaps even following ex-wives to make sure they don't disclose top secret insider poop to other teams looking to maximize on points per dollar while achieving zero dollar playoff expenditures....

Add those 18 in: top of the league totals, my friend.
