I predict (and hope and pray) Clarkson works out, diets , takes skating lessons and comes back with a vengeance next year. There will be changes this year, New line mates. No injuries or suspensions. A new start for him. Hopefully he gets his poop together and plays some decent hockey. Not $5 million hockey, but $3 million hockey (the extra $2 is the expected inflation paid to free agents, therefore not required to be earned). Him and Bolland may be the largest factor in Leafs not making it this season. (Phaneufs leadership aside) |

big-ticket free agent failures like Pavel Kubina in 2006, Jason Blake in 2007 or Tim Connolly in 2011
Not saying these guys were great......but.....Kubina was a warrior for this team, scored 40 points for us, played on top D pairing. Blake led the team in goal scoring once or twice. Connolly sucked, but everyone already knew he sucked, and it was only 2 years.
Clarkson is like Philippe Dupuis mixed with Rickard Wallin mixed with Freddy Sjoestrom, and is paid like Corey Perry....for 7 years |
